Times for this evening Surrey Hills Circular are now on RTT:

Interesting to see that once again Clan Line is making a guest appearance in the former Eurostar Terminal at Waterloo. A departure from Platform 20 may possibly herald things to come in the future so that long steam charters can fit into a platform and behind a signal. We shall see.

I gather that the booked stop on Grosvenor Bridge on the return into Victoria is for a firework display.

Looking at the times is the 13 minute stop at chertsey for water as it's not stopping at shalford as per normal on the regular round trips

Indeed, and it's two this time, a 24 hr and a 48 hr. Seemingly, when the revised offer by Network Rail was put to the workforce, it was rejected so it's back to square one. By the way, I posted news of this latest strike on the thread relating to the original strike so it may be best to use that for any further comment on this latest strike call?

If next week's strike goes ahead it'd be a great shame if this train has to be cancelled given its a fund raiser. Hopefully it won't happen, or the train can run on another date. As the original motive power was to be 60163, it's not particularly important for any postponed train to run behind 35028 I guess. It may even end up being hauled by 60163 after all.

Good news - RMT has just called off both sets of planned strike action this week and next.

Anyone know the reason behind the stop at Hounslow?
There aren't any facilities there (though I guess you could run a hose across from Maxwell Park Road if you wanted to). Is it just pathing?

An interesting piece of trivia in relation to this trip. Clan Line will meet the returning empty stock plus Mayflower on Grosvenor Bridge at around 2250 if everything goes to plan. Prizes are in order for someone who can catch them side by side as they will, of course, both be facing Victoria.

Whilst it would be great to have some steam charters Ex Waterloo, the eurostar platforms are shielded from view from Platforms 1 to 19 and I don't think you can get onto platform 21/22 currently.
Whilst you *might* get a reasonable view of the departure from one of the low numbered platforms, the law of sod says that there would be a unit either leaving or approaching the platforms that obscure views.

Vauxhall would probably be a better place to watch from.

I agree that Vaushall would be a good vantage point. I tend to prefer Clapham Junction where you can be sure it will pass through Platform 5 or 6 on the Windsor lines. Always great to see the reaction of the homebound commuters!

Did you get confirmation of the fireworks display? Nothing on line anywhere that I can find although I see there's a champagne reception before departure with The Red Hot Chilli Peppers playing live.

Just got back from Worplesdon. What a great show from 35028 and her crew. She was really hammering along and there were plenty of whistles for the spectators on the footbridge. I was on the platform and nearly lost my video shot as a very long electric unit appeared from Guildford just after 35028 appeared in the distance from Woking. I will upload the video tomorrow afternoon.

Looked good when I saw it at Kensington Olympia earlier this evening in order to reverse to access Waterloo. Also caught up with it at Clapham but was bowled out completely by several 455's. Don't think anything has gone through the Windsor line platforms that quickly for a long time, shame it wasn't down the main!

I never planned to head over as far as Chilworth tonight, but I'm rather glad I did... there's a soundtrack video going to be uploaded tomorrow night when I get in from work.

Clan Line has been one of my favourite engines on the main line and tonight's performance up the bank with zero assistance was one of the best in my opinion. Simply stunning.

So here is the firework display. Shot from Chelsea Bridge upstream towards Grosvenor Railway Bridge. Mayflower, being taken back to Southall from Victoria, can be heard but not seen at the end of the clip as Clan Line & Mayflower exchange greetings.
