Just a quick query, is there any way of obtaining a print of this wonderful work of art? Have to say I really enjoyed the theatre with this painting this week. Anyhow be much obliged if anyone can point me in the right direction?

Thankyou @spicer21 my bank balance will be lighter shortly! As regards the orginal its in the NRM (10ft by 20ft!) largest peice Mr Cuneo painted according to the theatre pieice that was played out in front of it and thats well worth seeing too. It's location is down towards the diesel tent in the old goods shed. You can spend a good 10/15 mins taking in all the little details.

Many thanks, that's kind. Hope you get much pleasure from the print. I'm well overdue for a visit to the NRM so seeing that original could well be my excuse. What a task painting that must have been! Even studying the versions you can see online reveal lots of detail. It also captures brilliantly the atmosphere of a busy station. You can almost feel the sense of "hustle and bustle" :)

Super painting...my mother took me to Waterloo in 1966 when I was 5.... I stood on the concourse and cried because of the noise of the steam locos! She bought me a toy train from the WH Smith kiosk visible in the Cuneo! My only memory of "real" steam as all the trains I went on were electric!

I know that those platform numbers had to go in the modernisation but they were something special and could so easily have remained.

She dosn't mind a bit of railway art tbh mate I think it helps that our neighbours have a huge poster of 'Durham, see Britain by train' in their front room. She loves the 82045 poster we've got.

You're lucky, I have to gently make hints before anything steam related goes up.

But once its up, its up!

Im rather lucky not many women would let their other half name one of the cats after the class 20's nickname like I did with Chopper! She drew the line at me naming the other Growler though!

Nah she knows how much of a 20 and 37 Nut I am especially after how many times I've 'suggested' a trip to see the my parents and it just so happened 20059's working at the SVR! She did ask why we didn't do 37264 at the Moors the other day too.
