A worm for the early bird eh, Steve. Cracking shot getting away from Preston, cool conditions, little wind and a Jubilee accelerating - cracking. Looks like a long but enjoyable day for you with 70000 and 45699 still to come, looking forward to the rest of your videos. Many thanks for sharing, cheers, Alan

Delayed on the approach to Filey thought to be level crossing barrier problem. 18 down as a result.

Unexpected development, the diesel has propelled the stock back into the station and is now off to Milford to meet us there so Leander on her own....

And now the bad news, badly delayed reason unknown and now 20 late getting to Milford Loop. So with 30 minutes to change locos we are unlikely to get back on time. What a great pity as it had been going so well.

Out of interest, can someone please explain why this trip was timed to take over 2 hours from Preston to Manchester, and an equally pedestrian time from there to Sheffield?

A very enjoyable meander with Leander (couldn't help myself!) today with many highlights; these included a very vocal climb of Miles Platting, a charming scene at Chinley with an Aveling & Porter general purpose engine and several vintage vehicles following 45690 (nice to see someone was around to record it), a rock steady climb out of Brid with plenty of three-cylinder music and plenty of high-speed dashes, especially through the Hope Valley. A couple of unneeded disturbances, namely at Hunmanby with the level crossing barrier supposedly throwing a hissy fit and a unknown stop outside Church Fenton hampered progress a little although with the former the 'Jub' soon made inroads into the deficit with the help of running non-stop through Filey (after passing the unit at Hunmanby) and went from 18 down as Ralph reported (nice to meet you by the way :)) to a bang on-time arrival at Scarborough. Things looked a bit tight for the loco swap at Milford but we were soon off 5 early. Thanks to all involved in organising and running of the tour.

A very pleasant day out with reasonable weather for a change (ie. it wasn't raining stair rods)!

A great day out, Leander wonderful, weather great, many miles of varying scenery travelled, Gravy Train Catering gave impeccable service and arrival approx' 7 minutes early back in Manchester tonight.

Happy memories of train (and girl!) spotting in that area as a yoof before the bridge was built. To the right was a dodgy pub called The Ferry Boat, now a fancy restaurant. Last went back there around 10 years ago and could hardly recognise the place.
