Very nice - I do feel calling it a "shelter" is a bit like calling the QE2 a "boat" - gives no real idea of the scale of the project! Am I right that, apart from components, it is, despite appearances, actually all new build.

    Well done all concerned!

On behalf of colleagues from the building group, thank you. You're correct it is all new, except for the cast iron columns, and the clock donated by SWT. Even up close it is still hard to tell. Hard enough that when some staff from the NRM visited recently they asked from where we had moved the building.

92212 was running last week, presumably off to GCR soon. Wadebridge returned this morning, now facing out of Alton, makes a change, but only 45379 fcing London now! IIRC, 73017 also faces Country end, but 43212 is facing London. Please correct me if I am wrong

Sorry, really tired this morning...would be nice to have 73017! And 76017 is my favourite MHR loco too...Just checked pictures of 41312, in the headshunt and y last pictures of it in service and it is definitely facing London.

I did lay myself rather open to it though! Looking forward to a couple of new locos over the Alps later this year.

it does look the part, and hopefully will see plenty of use, if the weather carry on like it has :( i can still remember the cross the foot bridge dash from the waiting area in the Station house as the up train came in, when it was raining , or later, being told, your turn to go up on top :) and coming down looking like a drowned rat mind you 3 miles of 1 in 60 soon dried you out , till you got wet again

Can't be to long before 30850 boiler ticket runs out. But it would be nice to see 30850 or 30925 turned around to face out of Alresford.

I would just like the chance to get the chance to see the 2 locos passing each other should make a great photo.

Don't know if 9F will face the other way when it returns. 76017 faces London. 850 boiler ticket expires at the end of the year, and 34007s at the start of March 2016.

Indeed there is. All fingers and toes crossed for 41312 and 76017 this year and 30506 sometime next.

Out of curiosity, given the gradients on the line, is there a preferred way from the crews' point of view to have locos facing on the MHR? Just thinking about changes in water level as you go from regulator open uphill to regulator closed downhill etc.

In which case anyone (like me) who's never yet had a ride behind it needs to do so soon. How do I find out which days it will be running?
