Yes there is still a firm at Sandown airport making parts for Spitfires http://www.airframes.co.uk/

All I know is what I posted I am afraid, I feel sure that they may be others who know much more than I do.

That will be worthwhile. I still remember the "big wing" going overhead from the Biggin Hill Battle of Britain airshow in I guess 2000.

Some years ago at Duxford I can remember 36 Merlins in the air at the same time, but that included Lancaster,Hurricanes,Spitfires and Mustangs,a beautiful noise.

Shame if it isn't - the historic link would make it a must do event...

I believe they are taking off from Biggin Hill, then splitting into 3 separate flights and carrying out patrols over 3 different areas (one of which I think is Southhampton area Gary). Then reforming to land again at BH.
Organised by Biggin Hill heratage hangar.

AFAIK the Biggin Hill event is confirmed and will take place on 18th August, the anniversary of what became known as "the hardest day." There have also been rumours about another big gathering on September 15th, Battle of Britain Day but I can't find anything concrete regarding this.

I'm not familiar with this area, so was wondering are there any other smaller scale commemorative events which are definitely happening over the coming months? I only really see aircraft from WW2 when they fly in conjunction with heritage railways war weekends. Is there a standout museum to visit? All advice gratefully received!

    13? Sounds more like a squadron and 39 a Big Wing! ;)

Northolt Open Day today but all sold out and the BBMF, Queens Birthday flypast etc cancelled. This was the best I could do from the side of the A40!

I guess you were on "Wembley Hill" then.......

I didn't even bother (or with the Bongo!) - we had a couple of "paraffin parrots" doing recon this morning, and that was it until late on when we got buzzed by a single prop, but no idea what it was.

No, couldn't get anywhere near Wembley Hill, although that was the intention. Gridlocked all around so found a spot to pull in off the A40.

You do get a bit seasoned with Warbirds in the Chichester Area. The dual Spitfire is buzzing about most days, he goes down to the Selsey area for aerobatics according to how tolerant the passenger is. Harvards are two a penny and the prop tips going supersonic does get a bit wearisome some days. Lately we have had a US Warbird carrier radial engined plane going backwards and forwards for the past month, he was practicing formation flying with a Spit the other day.
