Couldn't agree more. I'm sure Mr. Kerr and others would be less than impressed if we started discussing publicly any medical issues they had. I trust the mods will remove the offending posts.

Yep, I agree, as I say I have some sympathy for that driver to be honest, not sure his personal health circumstances post incident are relevant anyway, particularly in this thread which has nothing to do with the SN45 / Wootten Bassett incident....

One night at Watford Junction, as I was about to board the all-stations to Euston emu to go two stops to Bushey & Oxhey (as it then was) where I then lived, I realised that the train was moving slowly. I made my way to the guard's compartment near the back but found no-one there, so I operated the brake valve. I then walked to the front of the train and said to the driver "Do you know you were running away?" I don't remember what he said. This was back in the 70s.

Thought I'd post a video of the return working, as this thread has seemed to have drifted far & wide !

Thank goodness an on-topic reply!! instead of several pages, almost completely full, of irrelevant and/or unsubstantiated and in some cases hostile replies!

    Thought this forum was moderated?

What an amazing stretch of railway. Signal box, semaphore signals and even a siding with old style "buffers". Can't be many stretches left like that now. So appropriate to see a steam hauled train there.

Absolutely Mr Yeti, even the gloom of a rainy Saturday failed to dispel the evocative scene of the video - a well chosen location. Also, it was appropriate that the station and 'box were "named" after the photographer - or was Moreton a distant relative? Cheers Liam!! ;)

    Cheers

I did not NOT discuss the medical issues of a particular individual BUT I did mention the fact to explain why I was not looking to add anything to the Reading incident in order to avoid a potentially similar consequence for those involved. If others or other forums wish to discuss the matter then that is up to them. Note however that the moderator of this thread withdrew the video link - which should have been taken as an indication to moderate postings as I have sought to do.

I have no objection to my medical issue being discussed if it is relevant BUT only if the medical issues are part of the problem - not a consequence of it !

I have moved a number of posts referring to medical matters to the moderation area for now.

Sorry - I've read that three times and it still doesn't make the remotest bit of sense.

You chose to discuss the medical issues of a particular individual - in what way is that "NOT discussing the medical issues of a particular individual?" And in what way is it relevant to this thread - or indeed helpful to the individual and his family?

Having checked the moderated posts ... and my own passport to check that I am not in fact a Dutchman ... !

In future, could members refrain completely from discussing the medical disposition of others, under any circumstances.

Probably because frozen ballast is a bit hard on my feet. That's why I refrain from that sort of thing.....

If you want to complete the cleaning up process you may want to moderate/remove my post #102 which quotes the offending article.

And those "period features" have survived recent extensive reconstruction - double-track reinstated from there to Evesham, etc. A good example of "appropriate technology".

Lovely phot but the platform end fencing sticks out like a sore thumb, could some GWR style black painted spike fencing not have been sourced ?.
