The Schynige Platte railway (German: Schynige Platte Bahn, SPB) is a mountain railway in the Bernese Oberland area of Switzerland, which connects the town of Wilderswil, near Interlaken with the famous wildflower gardens of the Schynige Platte

The BOB (metre gauge) took over the 800mm SPB in 1895. Stock from the Wengernalp Bahn (also 800mm) was regularly transferred to the SPB hence the variety of colours - WAB green, BOB brown and SPB red/cream. No5, shown in the photos, is the only remaining steam loco on the SPB and is only very infrequently used. A BOB steam loco was/is stored in Zweilutchein shed but the Ballenberg Dampfbahn's ex SBB rack tank 1067 does occasionally run between Interlaken Ost and Grindlewald/Lauterbrunnen on BOB metals.
    Cheers,
    Ray.
