    Indeed...... :(

Which leaves me wondering, given the different fortunes to befall No.9 & 60163 - if JH will install a rolling road for post maintenance testing given the lack of running line to shake things down? - its not like he can't afford it, but more, justify the cost, before sending said beastie to a line for load testing........ would make sense & make scenes like that but a distant memory......

Do we really need it?.......... nah, a rolling road would be a damn good investment - he could recoup the money with testing all these butt ugly modern dieasel type thingy's, never mind the 1st gen boxes so now in demand because of grandfather rights!

He'd be on to a winner - in light of recent events, it just might be the way forward......... no need to risk bringing the network to a standstill, until such time snagging is complete.;)

The rolling road bit must be 2/3 of the total testing kit ? The rest of the gubbins would probably be the size of a 'Tablet' nowadays, just think of the fun the new build guys and Sheff and his mates would have with that lot !

Re: a rolling road, woulden't that only give the driving wheels a workout ?, the front bogie, rear pony and tender axles would be as good as stationary, yet are just as likely to suffer from axlebox trouble.

I'm just as surprised as you are. Perhaps it's just a case of doing it now rather than later.

What left Southall for Derby today? The only movement on RTT from there.

Thanks, didn't realise it was still at Southall.

Yup, moving a steam loco into a region with a steam ban makes sense to me.

There's probably a valid reason for moving Tangmere to St. Philips Marsh, such as tyre turning? <BJ>
