Deep joy. A feel a day off work is justifiable.

KX to York and return, the mighty Alycidon one way, Tornado return (fresh paint job). Civilised start and finish times.
It's on the A1 trust web site

What are the chances of Tornado being ready for this re-arranged trip? It all seems very quiet and still no date at the moment for a test run.

Mark Allatt was overheard at Waterloo (on Clan Line trip) saying that all was well with Tornado and that the test run is imminent. As for July 7th, it's got all the ScotRail stuff to do first.

Thinking about doing this for a significant birthday. Anyone tried the dining option with UK Railtours? Any good?

In the last few years I've had many trips with UKRT and the other railtour promoters, almost always premier dining. I've sometimes heard mutterings than company X's caterers do a better job than company Y's., but I've been perfectly happy with the food and the service from all of them.

Thanks for the info. Now just got to persuade the Mrs about the joys of Deltic haulage - ahh, memories of York station in the 1970s and 80s ...

The wife won't be too pleased getting up an hour earlier. Any ideas when Gresley is expected at York on the Cathedrals?

Don't seem to be any timings on RTT yet but the stock gets into Edinburgh Waverley at 0712. They don't let the train stand in the station for long on a weekday so guess it's a 0730 or so departure, probably getting to York lunchtime.

Eh? Wrong thread? RTT links above and this one is only going as far as York.

1020 Shireman's response was to post 14, which asked about 60007's trip on the 7th.
