Slightly surprised there's been no discussion of this trip yet...

I see from UKsteam.info that 60007 Sir Nigel Gresley is now rostered to work most of this tour (except for KX-York on Sunday, Edinburgh-St Andrews on Monday evening and York-KX on Tuesday). There is a l/e move from Grosmont to York (NRM) on Saturday: http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/U50568/2015/07/04/advanced

I'm pleased to see No 7 is able to get out to the national network again. I hope the tour goes well.

Pity they couldn't top up number 7 in York as it could create an opportunity for an A1 and A4 at the stops in KX which would be very welcome.

60007 was always planned to come off the tour at York. Given all the recent problems with mainline steam it is good news 60007 has the chance of this pre-overhaul farewell tour. Likely to be the last chance to travel behind (or see 7) on the mainline for a few years.

Cheers Paul. Hadn't thought to check SD, but nothing was showing on UK STEAM as of late last night. Looks like a 'splash and dash' at Heaton, rather than Tyne Yard. Plus, of course, Berwick DGL

Looking at the York - Newcastle and Berwick - Edinburgh times, at least there will be time to enjoy the scenery but, I guess, giving plenty of wriggle room in the path is no bad thing.

The Trust is very sorry to inform members that this morning 3rd July 60007 has failed a pre-FTR exam. Very sadly this means that 60007 will not be available for the planned tours to Edinburgh this weekend.

Sad news. Feel sorry for friends booked on this. Having endured the fiasco that was GB8, they were looking forward to three days of steam haulage.

It seems a troubled loco at present. Very sad for all.

What a very great shame. Sad for the Trust and for the passengers.

Is there an alternative loco available to cover even part of the itinerary? Perhaps one of the FW-based locos could be brought south work the Fife circuit on Monday? (I won't suggest Tornado - that would be pushing credibility too far...)

How about West Coast risking the fragile Scot for the fare paying passengers, or is that a bridge too far.

Maybe they're frightened of the big bad South African gentleman locking up their loco again when they cross the border. :D
