    Oh FFS!!!
A bit of a farce when they had a perfectly fit and reliable A1 pacific sitting nearby in steam.......
I will have to take something to read tomorrow, a joke book perhaps to see if it's the same one being used by WCRC.
I am not one of 34067's biggest fans but I will be pleased to see her at the end of Weymouth platform tomorrow for the return run

A further update from the SD twitter account says the trip will now be top and tailed Class 47 & 37. 47 outward, 37 out of Weymouth to Southampton and 47 for the last section back to London. Wonderful :'( Beginning to wish I hadn't bothered with this one now.

I really should know better than to skim-read - I always miss the most important bit: "At the time of writing, West Coast Railways are finding out if steam locomotive Tangmere, which is currently stabled in Bristol, can be readied for tomorrow to haul the train from Weymouth back to London..." I hope they can do that. If they do, is there a path straight up through Winchester, or will they still need to go via (Eastleigh,) Romsey and Andover, I wonder? There will probably need to be an extra water stop somewhere, too.

Does that mean Tangmere's definitely off the menu, then? (I had worried that perhaps her tender wheels are not fixed yet...)

That would be nice for everyone. But given the 'full on' programme with Mayflower, there is sadly something inevitable in this announcement and the absence of a Southern Pool (like the Northern Pool) is rather bizarre given the work that Steam Dreams is giving WCRC.

I wondered about the wheel flats too. It seems the statement on the SD site could have been written by Lance Armstrong, the new WCRC publicity agent

Lets hope their diesels are reliable

Absolutely huge disappointment for those travelling on board tomorrow but we all know that WC don't operate Tornado, haven't done so since it was built and the reason why so why keep bringing it up when we all know it's not going to happen for the foreseable unless the requirements change, however frustrating it is for those of us that don't know how to run a railway!

I think its human nature we will keep bringing it up every time the absurdity and irony of the situation is apparent.

So two of the best and most reliable locomotives on the main line - i.e. Clan Line and Tornado - are not locomotives that WCRC will get its hands on. Nothing wrong with that imho if that's what WCRC wants.

I don't disagree with what you both have wrote, all I am saying is that we all know the situation so is there a need to drag another thread round and round in circles?

Let's hope Mayflower get's back up and running soon as stated.

Well Mr Riley has a black 5 in steam and it's only in Fort William, erm, maybe that is a bit far though....

Thanks. It appears to be close, lots of supports in the area but no wires yet.

Agreed. I have been passing Southall many times each year over the last 10 years or so but never seen it look so bare.

37 out of Weymouth with a spoon hanging off the back.
    Wouldn't mind seeing that,
Oh wait there's a rail strike on.

Don't get why people are complaining.
Your getting your trip and a bit of money off /back.
No ones fault the b1s failed.
Lay off SD they are doing what they can to get tangmere down.
Good job there's two diesels given the scrap, sorry spam cans track record,of failing to get up hills or just failing..

Well you obviously didn't see Tangmere tackle the Devon hills on the Duchys last year.
