Like a glove. Nothing abnormal has cropped up. Just normal running maintenance. Whch shows the quality of the work done that she works straight out of the box. This week she has been sporting yet more headboards. Tuesdays was most appropriate as she is carrying a 73B shedplate and a man of kent headboard.

I will definitely have to find an excuse to get away from the Mrs for a day when she's running! ;)

I've done it quite a few times. Well, it was from my house to Bewdley which is in fact longer as I have to walk by the station. Hampton Loade to Bridgnorth is nice but less people seem to walk along that stretch so the path is always a bit more overgrown than any between Bewdley and Hampton.

How long did that take? The walks between the intermediate stations aren't bad because your just following the River but I should imagine walking through Kiddy means having to use the ring road at some point and I wouldnt call that scenic!

To bring this topic back to Locos. 7802's chassis was seen on the Solihull by pass heading towards the motorway and Bridgnorth about 90 mins ago. I would imagine within the next hour, 2 hours. It will have been offloaded at Bridgnorth.

Don't worry - we lock threads which stay on-topic too long.

I had the pleasure of Taw Valley the Sunday before last. Apart from the usual stiffness you expect with a new engine and a couple of niggles with the brakes, specifically the tender brakes not coming off, ( a bundle of laughs when you're starting tender - first from Arley, Highley or Hampton with an 8 - coach train on a wet rail), it's a beautiful machine. Both me and my fireman had it up to 15% cut - off once we'd got it going and it chuckled along very happily with about 160 psi on the steam chest. If you opened it right up, so you'd got, say, 240 on the steam chest, you would have had to shut off pretty soon afterwards, or you would have been doing silly speeds. It really wanted to go. It is noticeably stronger than SKP, which is no slouch itself. Typical Bulleid: steams like a witch on little more than a candle and fresh air, although it does better with 60 shovels in the right place.

The chrome - plated regulator was a bit of a surprise!

    Regards,

    jtx

    That's interesting......

As for steaming, there are some on the MHR who swear a Bulleid would move if you far_ed in the firebox - and yes they do want to go, though a 1:60 uphill does rein them in...... until you get to the other side!

As said earlier - will defo have to experience the Valley on the Valley! :)

As someone who isn't to au fait with the complexitys of footplate managment I do find it intresting when those in the know say loco x is better than loco y. Id love to know which ones the better Manor, pannier, or how say Gordon compared to 90733. I do understand though why these things are not made public!

Not much of it as you cut across the town. It's a bit noisy in parts, though the walk up Bewdley hill is quite nice when the sun is sunshining as is once you get to Bewdley itself. Never directly timed myself but 1 hr 30 sounds about right.

I've always thought the way into Bewdley from Wolverly or Kiddy is quite nice certainly from bypass Island the 2 pubs and the church always look nice. I've always meant to have a wonder up to the field behind the church. Just to see what view you'd get over the station.

Was a good view, but the foliage is getting in the way these days. Like yourself, I wondered about wandering and made my way up there!!;)

Some of the favoured opinions are well known, like 7819 seems to have been rated pretty highly by those who knew her well, though that's not to say 7802 or 7812 are bad either, you can't judge as well when travelling passenger as you can on diesel and you never know what's going on on the footplate, it might seem to be going well, but where's the regulator and cut off, is the coal any good etc.

Certainly steam producing rarely seems to be a problem for a Bulleid, the boiler's the best part of them IMO.

    Yes.

Table C is in operation Saturday. Steam locomotives in use are ex-GWR 'Pannier' 1501 and ex-SR pair 34027 'Taw Valley' and 34053 'Sir Keith Park', plus heritage diesel 'D1062 Western Courier' as scheduled. Ex-LM 'Flying Pig' no. 43106 will be handling the Footplate Experience service and the diesel multiple unit is on the Evening Scenic Special.

On Saturday the Silhill Morris Dancers will travel by train between Kidderminster and Bewdley, dancing at intervals throughout the day. More at http://www.svr.co.uk/NewsItem.aspx?a=675

All-steam Table B is in operation on Sunday. FIVE Steam locomotives in use: ex-GWR pair 1501 and 4566, ex-SR pair 34027 'Taw Valley' and 34053 'Sir Keith Park', plus ex-LM 'Flying Pig' no. 43106. Heritage diesel 'D1062 Western Courier' will be handling the Footplate Experience service.

    Apologies for the transposition.

1501 has broken a spring, 4566 and D8059 took over today. 4566 will work all the Sunday diagram, 1501 will not be running

    Cheers

    Patrick
