I paid on the day last Thursday. The three standard class coaches were more or less full but the kind chief steward said he'd fit me in and he did. So the answer is that you take your chance, no guarantees but I was lucky. 45690 with eight coaches 62 mins Hellifield to Appleby and 66 mins back, a very good run and it was actually warm in Carlisle, a first time for everything!

Excellent! Did she keep time? I'd back a Five against a Jub any day with 11 on in those conditions :)

Thanks for that info. Don't get this far north too often, so first ever trip to Aisgill for me. Waded out to the viaduct, what an amazing scene, 45231 looked and sounded terrific. Don't have the technology with me to upload any results but not much sun to report, completely soaked through but so worth the trip.

A really very good sequence, many thanks. Falling rain adds to it all.

Any clue as to what should be fronting the run today?

Well, the diesel has got it to Hellifield Goods Loop.

And it's still there as booked. So hopefully something noisy and claggy with a 5 digit number starting with a 4 is now on the front!

I see you failed to get cooperation from on high, in that the water was ruffled by the wind and not a mirror finish for that elusive reflection shot.. Great shot despite this...

A lovely walk today from Ribblehead over Blea Moor to capture Galatea at the northern end of the tunnel on its Southbound trip this evening. I know some people have reservations about Galatea's livery but especially in the full sun on a set of maroons she looks magnificent.
