Pinza was my favourite Deltic whenI were a lad so good to see her rise from the ashes.

 

Rather enjoying seeing the identities being rotated in this way, just a shame shes still by and large on the Scottish unit moves while it's happening.

Hope it isn't too long before 55015 Tuylar emerges from Barrow Hill, only one bar the prototype I haven't seen working.

 

Yep, but it's helping to pay the bills David, not a lot but every little helps. Also a Deltic is not suited to just bumbling about locally, a Deltic NEEDS hard high speed work. I can't see Martin Walker kicking a bit of regular work in to touch, he'll take it as long as it's being offered.
Does anybody know the present situation regarding 55016 Gordon Highlander ? It's been "undergoing body repairs" for a long time now

 

Don't get me wrong, it's great RSG has a regular income like that, I mean a shame in the sense she isn't getting about to other parts of the country while it's going on, though I suppose Alycidon has taken on that mantle.

Shame Meld has gone but nice to see another FP Racehorse back with us I understand Davids point of view it would be nice to see Deltic 22 out and about on other regions but the stock moves pay the bills! Be nice to see a Regiment next time though Mr Walker!

 

In the summer of 1981 we were on holiday in Northumberland and took a day return from Alnmouth to Edinburgh. The return train was in one of the eastern bays at Waverley and I had no idea what locomotive came on. After a slightly late departure, however, it became obvious that this train was going like fertiliser off a shovel up the ECML. Arrival at Alnmouth revealed Pinza on the front and a wait for time! A fine last ride for me behind one of these outstanding locomotives.
