From Chester Mick Kelly showed us what Scots Guardsman could do with a run to Llandudno Junc In what would have been under even time had it not been for a few minutes wait for the road into platform 1 at the junction. Time was then lost waiting for the late running Holyhead service. Despite some more brisk running the rest of the way we were still some 15 down at Holyhead.

Very enjoyable video Austin, just love that sequence up to Edge Hill, a belting location there in that cutting. Many thanks for sharing.

    Cheers,

    Alan

Only looks like it was two minutes late into Jct on Realtime (due 43, arrive 45), but a longer stop over than planned.

Had a fun morning and early afternoon chasing the Scot along the coast, video uploading at the moment but here are a few pictures from Edge Hill and Conwy.

Cracking run over Anglesey, plenty of noise and a brisk pace. Problem at Llan J. seemed to be the hydrant water pressure, but as there was nothing due for quite a time I think the decision was made to get it full there then only a splash at Frodsham. Apart from a restriction through Rhyl, platform clearance I understand, the pace to Chester was outstanding, the Scot was roaring along and at every decent vantage point there were rows of photters. So by Chester some time had been recovered, a quick dash to Frodsham where I had to leave the train. Still however running late on departure from there. Some have called 46115 fragile, well she certainly was anything but today, with speeds up to 75 on many occasions.

Following on from Ralph's post: due to late running and a service train right behind, the diesel gave an almighty push to get the Scot on the way again from Frodsham. Obviously driver Bill Warriner was under orders!

2 minutes late arriving, 24 late departing due to time taken to take on water... but then 6 minutes recovered on the way to Chester including a 15mph check through Rhyl station. Not as quick as the outward run but still very noisy.
