Yes you can turn up at the station and pay on the train provided there are still seats available.

Some fiends tried to book yesterday and were told the train is full, as is the 6th September but there might be no shows on the day that the train manager knows about.

Not surprised, not a good idea to allow fiends on the train, might end up with murder on the royal dutchy express

If all it needed was a bit of house-keeping, where did the much-quoted (in the qualitative sense, but not revealed in the quantitive sense as far as I remember) six-figure repair cost come from? I suppose the issue is whether the vacuum method of operation has indeed failed, and that it has been manually turned ever since. If this is the case, it is understandable why there should be a call for assistance, as weeds and a lack of grease probably made the operation increasingly difficult.

  8. Does anyone know if The Duchy is still watering at Tivy Loops on the outward as I've heard its watering at Taunton both ways?

Anyone see No9 and the ECS today? Was it tucked inside the diesel to get in some 75mph running?

Yes you can, see the train manager, if seats available he will tell you to get on train and he will come and tell you your seat and take your money, I've done it dozens of times.

Yes I saw it through Taplow on the main. Flying. Did take a few photos but haven't downloaded. I was caught out by the station changes there (new temp bridge etc) and running ahead of schedule so I didn't get to a good spot. It was tucked in behind the shed.

Structural defect/s found on the part between platform 3 and the A4 car park so that's blocked off.
Bridge is still there and you can still use that to get out to North car park from Reading bound trains.
Temporary bridge has dodgy steps that feel as though you are walking on a shed roof. Top part too high to see over but decent views from the steps.
Well I am assuming it's temporary!
