I am lucky enough to be a free man on Weds and Thurs this week, any roster info appreciated! I'm heading for Swanage anyway, but it would be great to know what to expect! Thanks.

It is currently 31806 and 34070, but both of them are coming up for washout shortly so it may change; I'll have a word tomorrow and find out what the plan is.

Certainly tomorrow is 31806 and 34070; I see no reason for this to change on Thursday.

For anyone looking to come down to Swanage tomorrow, the loco roster has now changed to 34070 and 30053.

Any reason why? The U boat seemed fine when I was behind her today.

Partly planned, partly brought forward because of a leaking blowdown valve. What trips were you on? I was on 31806 for a few trips today owing to the booked Driver being unable to complete the turn.

14:00 Ex Swanage behind the U.
I did notice that there was a significant amount of water being ejected under the cab at Swanage, but it seemed that it wasn't happening a few minutes into the trip, so I thought nothing more of it.
We (the lad & I) did more behind Manston as the U boat isn't really a novelty to us. Is it my imagnination, or does Manston have a similar lop sided beat to Wadebridge?

The Bulleid Pacifics should all sound slightly off beat as the big end cranks are not at even angles, this is to evenly distribute the power strokes, due to the inclined middle cylinder (Crank angles are 120,114,126 degrees).

I may be heading down down at the weekend. Does anyone know what is likely to be operating?

    Thanks

They do sound leggy if pulled up too much at low speeds.

Right then chaps; the message you've all been waiting for...! 30120 went out today for a test run and, provided a couple of jobs tomorrow are completed, is planned to be in traffic this Friday, Saturday and Sunday, alongside 30053 and 80104.

Apologies for the very poor quality, but here's a very early picture of Swanage Station (circa 1978)
