    I might be wrong, but I think you can only do it if you have an image on another web server from which you can copy the URL.

    You can then write:

    {img}URL-of-image{/img}

    but replacing { and } with [ and ].

    For example, {img}http://www.myserver.com/my-image-name{/img}

    If you host images on Flickr (which might be an idea anyway, as a more permanent repository than on here) then Flickr provides a sharing tool that will enable you to embed an image on this forum, but with a link automatically created back to the original; it will also automatically copy an image caption that you have stored with the image on Flickr.

    Thank you, that is very helpful.
    I do have a Flickr site, but tend to use it for older photographs:
    https://www.flickr.com/photos/73536293@N02/sets/

    I was a bit puzzled, because two similar forums (specific to individual railways) do allow you to paste images into them. Oh well.

    Thanks for your help!

    Thank you for the offer, much appreciated, but I went to visit Hall Green and Shirley last week on spec. Some original features at the former, few if any at the latter, as you say.

    In the absence of other suggested stations of the era on this forum, my only remaining hope was HIA. It is nailed shut. What I was hoping to find is the design of the ticket windows (Stainless steel and bullet proof glass in the two above) and the cladding of the walls, plus any other features. What makes you suspect it is gutted?

    Hall Green was particularly interesting with its footbridge, alluringly similar to Broadway, yet.... parts of it puzzle us, and I am going back tomorrow for another look, and some measurements.

    Is there any evidence that actually suggests that the design features you mention are specific to only the one particular design of station building, or could particular features be more general to a number of different design buildings?

    I went in the waiting room in 1993 and it was from recollection featureless . Before the box closed I visitied and the signalman told me he regularly called the police out as the youth climbed up under the canopy roof and into the shell of the building . I'm assuming that it is not in a good condition

    Where I lived previously, Hall Green Station was literally at the bottom of my garden - almost. It was actually against the factory wall in Welby Road. Hence I have been over that footbridge many times but have never really taken note of it.

    Which, with the open spacing of the canopy at Broadway could in itself cause a problem. If the 'scrotes' can get into the roof space, then they will try and burrow down into the building itself. It's all very well to install steel mesh into the construction of the roof/ceiling structure but, if they have got that far, then there will be repair costs that have to be met.

    AFAIK very little money, in cash terms, is stored at any of the GWSR Stations but that doesn't prevent persons from causing damage just to discover such. Unfortunately, the value of damage caused can often exceed what might have been gained in monetary terms.

    I would expect the buildings along our line to be pretty much similar, as built at the same time. The time period is the important thing.

    Wilmcote, for example, is different as earlier, but there are recognisable similarities which point to evolution. But further up the N Warwickshire line the stations should resemble ours more closely, as built only just afterwards, say 4 years later. (1907 / 8). Hence the interest in Hall Green, the best preserved of the sister stations along our line. For example, Hall Green had 5 urinal stands, while Broadway had only 3, but they looked the same. (all slate, with dividers).

    I guess you could say most Mk1s look the same, but the expert will tell you the subtle differences :). They were built over... 20 years or so, thus a trusted design, with some evolution.

    Is Tyseley booking office any good? It must be a similar vintage although there was a fire there a few years back.

    I should have some digital photos that predate that. From memory it did look quite vintage inside.

    Sorry, I don't think I expressed myself clearly. I agree that stations of a similar design should be looked at first, but what I was suggesting is that even if the design of the building is different, the features you are looking for may be the same, so meaning they might be easier to look at and measure if you weren't just limited to buildings of a similar design all round. For example, whilst the station buildings at the SVR and at Broadway greatly differ, they may share smaller common features despite this, which may be of use.

    I agree. My fall back is Kidderminster.
    I recently spoke to a chap who had been inside the Broadway station as a schoolboy, and he remembers the ticket office window as a square one. He also mentioned it had an all wood bench....

    After clicking upload file and adding the photo, you get to a point where the file is displayed below the text dialog box and has two options, thumbnail and full image which give you the following (sorry for the thread drift)

    Another thread drift....anyone know why Galatea's smokebox door is being held closed with wire? And where have the smokebox handles gone to?

    Curious!

    This was last year, the handles reportedly fell off and the wire was a running repair so the loco could carry on.
    I suspose I could have chosen a less interesting picture for use as an example :p

    Another WCRC loco bits fall off of on mainline duty!

    Wouldn't like to be on a platform if this swung open in transit.

    Gives a new meanining to "Mind the door!"
