I think it was just being worked quite hard, it does have to do a bit more work on the Northbound run. Both locos sounded great and appear to be in good condition. We're getting pretty slick at the watering arrangements too :)

    Regards,

    Dan

Ah well, can't have everything! Lots of people out taking photos so hopefully some good stuff will be posted later.

    Regards,

    Well, to kick things off...............................

The rather scorched smokebox door & ring...................... it tells me there ain't much metal where it should be.........................

That looks as if coal has been sitting in the bottom of the smokebox and continuing to burn. The only time I've seen something similar was when Hardwicke did some runs between Carnforth and Grange-over-Sands, and that wasn't as bad as this picture.

I'll take it as, that means bad...................... and I was going from the MHR's 9F, where the paint has peeled from the smokebox door, and has done for as long as I can remember............... resulting in, she is about to get a new one.

But for the smokebox ring to go as well.................. there ain't enough metal where there should be!

Tomorrow could be 'interesting', not that I'm around to see it.

Noticed that as well, late in the day while filming the ECS back to Ruislip. Anyway, a couple of nice pics from today, unfortunately I can't make tomorrow but it was good today with most of the trains keeping reasonable time. Btw if you look at the second image you can clearly see the damage done to the smokebox door IMG_0137.JPG IMG_0227.JPG

No sign of damage on Met No. 1 today so must have had a quick repaint. And she was on the hard work end (up hill to Chesham, sounded fantastic getting out of Chalfont and Latimer), but could of easily turned the train on the Watford triangle, so guess the problem isn't as bad as some though.

Glad to hear that they let Met 1 go out again today, was a bit worried about what they might replace it with, sarah siddons or maybe even a battery loco!

My video from the weekend isn't brilliant, but as no-one else has posted one here I have been trying to post mine. Upload a file seems to be only for stills. I have uploaded to Flickr, but that has cut off the last few seconds. And I have uploaded to YouTube but I can't find the result to be able to post a link to it here.

Here's the incomplete Flickr one for what it's worth

Edit: now it is on YouTube

Battery locos are air brake only. No vacuum equipment.
