A note to anyone wanting to park at Bewdley:
The usual overflow car park is at Bewdley High School, just around the corner. I know for a fact that this has been booked for Saturday and Sunday, however the event leaflet says Friday and Saturday. I have mentioned this but as yet no reply or correction has been issued. Just a heads up.

Can anyone confirm whether there'll be additional/overflow parking available at Bridgnorth ?

    TIA

Tad confused with what's happening with the toplights. It is implied they make part of GW2 until the end of Saturday when it becomes part of the limited. So will GW2 consist of all toplights plus enough 'normal' GW2 coaches to make up an 8 coach set? And will the limited diner have public seating in the toplights, or will they be used for dining as well?

The top lights would be to provide public seating in the limited set. The limited set is generally a set of 5 (3 FO 1 RB 1 BCK) so the three toplights will be added to provide four coaches in total of public seating.

The 'toplights' are only 3 coaches: 9369, 3930 and 9055. At a guess, the BH end 4 coaches from GW2 as it stands atm will be added to KR end of the toplights plus 9103. This makes sense from shunting point of view and as a set formation with brakes vans in the 4th and 8th coaches (the usual pattern for the SVR).

The diner kitchen car can only really cater for 2.5 coaches, thus any more coaches must be for regular passengers otherwise it is rather pointless.

A rather poor timetable for this years gala, and with it being teh 50th anniversary you thought the railway might have gone all out for a big show, but no.

The WTT should have been distributed earlier, I only got mine yesterday and spent ages transferring the loco allocations onto the timetable, why cant this be done by the railway.

Poor use of visitors, which arent being used to the maximum, makes Thursday look to be a very good day.

Is the Limited Set now all Mark 1? What has happened to the Great Western Coaches than used to form it many years ago?

    Thanks.

The limited this days normally runs as a 5 coach set with 3 GWR coaches (BCK and 2 RTO) and 2 mark 1's (FO and a modifed RB serving as a kitchen car). It (mostly) is a diner only service. There are plans to replace the mark 1's (there are suitable replacements) but that will take time (and money).

The additional GW coaches for regular passengers were stopped being added from 2013 onwards for a few reasons. There was a change to the dining service pattern which favoured a more exclusive service and it also enabled the use of smaller loco rather than having to use a large loco, especially considering that often an obbo is added thus it is 6 now rather than 9 previously. The disadvantage is/was that it removed a service from the public timetable (though the accommodation was never that great). This may change for next year.

A view from a slightly less experienced SVR gala visitor here - this'll be my fourth ASG, but the first time I've gone for two days or got round to buying a WTT. The timetable looks... okay, in a safety-first sort of way. It doesn't exactly scream "Special all-out Golden Jubilee extravaganza!" and I'd have preferred something a bit more interesting to show my friend from GCR-land who's visiting the SVR for the first time. I don't want to make out that I hate it, because that's not true. It's just a bit uninspiring. (The timetable specifically; I'm more than happy with the choice of visiting locos!)

On the other hand, I'm not the most demanding of gala visitors: my first gala was ASG 2011, which was... not universally loved, and I enjoyed that day apart from the crowding. That's something I fear may be a real problem again this year with no locals other than the autotrain, plus an improving weather forecast. Still looking forward to the weekend, but half-wishing I'd been able to go on the Thursday now... and I probably won't be buying tickets for the next gala until after the timetable's published.

Understand your confusion. A loco gets turned Thursday but shunting notes dont line up timewise with LE moves for TV but must be assumed that is it

That it is what? Basically I'm reading it at the moment as facing South Thursday and then North Friday and for the rest of the gala but this is just guessing really.

Thanks for your inside help with this though.

What about 70000 ? That arrived this morning & went straight to Bridgnorth, so it's currently facing south. There is also no allocation for 46521 !
