Seems to have indeed made light work of Shap.

A mate of mine has said he'll probably be improving his 47 mileage rather than 5043 mileage so something seems to be amiss.

RTT says the DL has arrived at Carlisle and the tour train is still in the station. Any news on the Castle?

Having missed their booked path, it might be tricky to slot the train through the single line sections. Do they have to wait 2 hours, or is there an earlier gap they can aim for.

(Edit: Silly me! They're already over an hour late...)

http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/O27215/2015/09/19/advanced there is this path back to carnforth but its via the S&C so probably nothing unless for whatever reason they don't want to risk the WCML?

So in conclusion I know nothing.

    Is this
2hr 17 to Blea Moor - looks like a cautious limping home path for an injured Castle to me...

1Z45 under way 1602, but what's on the front? Just the diesel, or the Castle as well?

The Castle wasn't hanging around with that climb; you really captured the action there Steve, very enjoyable. A pity with the hot box tho'.

    Cheers,

No doubt the passengers today will be resigned to the situation and disappointed that The Earl has, unusually, let them down. However, spare a thought also for the Tyseley team who will most likely be devastated by the failure. When the norm is for there never to be problem, it must come quite hard on the rare occasion when there is a hiccup.

At some point, being the professionals that they are, someone from VT may well tell us about it on here. I just hope it's relatively minor - maybe tender rather than loco? - as I recall that Nunney failed in the past on a tender.
