The problem this time was a height restriction in the keighley area, Kinlet is on new tyres and this might be the difference between it and Olton? So not width this time!

We had great weather today for a wonderful Gala. So much hard work has gone into it as usual, so a big thank you to all concerned.

Here are a few shots from my quick stop at the Worth Valley. Credit to the team for the show they put on when everything was going against them.

Not a bad day when you consider the circumstances. I was a bit annoyed at the freight being cancelled. It mustn't have gained 5 minutes and line-siding is annoying when you like Big Jim. We know you don't like it. Shut up! 90733 was awesome. I'll miss her when she goes.

I'm sick of all the photographers moaning about the S160 and I wanted to see it on the freight.

Had a good day today, kind of gave up riding trains early afternoon, for some reason there seemed to be a huge amount of kids, most overly noisy and out of control,so I decided to get off at Oxenhope and utilise my lineside pass for some peace and quiet out of the virtual kindergarten... (after a great run behind the 4F on load 6 it must be said).

My effort of fotting "Big Jim" at "Top Field" can be seen at:

Still a great gala, thanks to all for persevering.

    Cheers,
    Mark

Yes you are right, there was a certain amount of 'laiseez- faire' parenting going on.

The KWVR had a really bad time with this gala the final straw being no trains from Leeds and a poor attendance yesterday. I really enjoyed the day though, getting 1054 on its own on the suburbans was a great start, it did the job with surprisingly little fuss. The 4F was in the Halls roster and I enjoyed three energetic and noisy trips with it, the non-stop being the highlight. 75078 looked superb now its lined out, not convinced about 90711 though. I don't remember seeing lots of BR locos around Lancashire with streaks of white running down them, especially in the places where this weathering was applied, they were just filthy and rusty. It looked more like it had been used as a pigeon roost.

Well done and many thanks Worth Valley Railway for carrying on with the gala and not just cancelling it.

It was a good weekend despite the lack of guests and Wells. Height restriction sounds pretty implausible... There,s surely enough clearance under the wires for a Hall... How much taller is one compared to say a Jub?

When was the last time a Jub went to kwv by rail though, or anything other than a black 5?
