Times for this weekend, with a change in times for Tornado on Saturday 17th, are now available at http://www.svr.co.uk/NewsItem.aspx?a=697

Reading the 6100 page at Icons of steam I'm guessing that mainline testing shall occur shortly after October.

46100 appears to have completed a high speed test today between Bewdley/Kidderminster.

Never mind; thanks for sharing anyway - a lovely sound. I bet the SVR crew members were enjoying themselves! Hopefully all this staged running in will ensure that by the time 46100 is ready to haul its first train on the main line, all the potential problems will have been ironed out. This must rank as one of the most thorough preparations for main line working in recent times. Perhaps a template for the future?

Not a deal maker/breaker but does anyone know which will be the 3rd loco this weekend? Just helpful for planning!

What a fantastic Raquet! Even made my cat Merle sit up and take notice from his snooze on the sofa!

Does anybody know which way Royal Scot and Tornado are facing for Saturday?

    Cheers

Certainly a lot louder and being driven more enthusiatically yesterday, 60163 was like driving miss daisy.

Agreed! Outbound from KDR in the morning, all the starts were so so slow, and by Arley the service was well behind time. Not helped by- as the Indians would say-"super dense crush load"- which made the journey quite unpleasant.
By contrast as you mention, 46100 southbound in my case was superb. positive driving and a chance to hear that lovely Stanier three-cylinder sound. Well done to the driver.

I travelled Kidderminster - Hampton Loade behind 46100, Hampton Loade - Bewdley behind 60163 and finally Bewdley - Kidderminster behind 46100 this morning. The trains were reasonably full - but certainly not crowded. On any special event, Sundays are almost invariably quieter than Saturdays.

Indeed, today was quieter but a couple of trains were still very full. 46100 certainly was quite popular.

Had a round trip with 46100 today. Most enjoyable. Trains were busy but not crowded and the ale in the Railwayman's Arms was excellent as usual. :)
