Pleasant surprise to finfd this working when I visited Colton today; sadly the weather was poor with low light and mist so I thought to gain some panning experience on moving trains; Galatea was a good practice and the result :

Nice shot, considering the conditions and the 'death stare' from Inspector Smith you had to deal with !

Saw the SSE tonight at Outwood (climb away from Wakey),have to say,it looked a bit of a joke with the 47 at the rear screaming like a banshee.....but what else should we expect, especially in leaf fall season,it is after all,the worst ever leaf fall season,I'm sure.... ;)

Anyway, the Jub did still sound nice up front (even if it wasn't as dramatic as "normal").

So what's the reason for the oil burner on the back...... The weather cannot be the reason, leaf fall, maybe but that's a poor excuse !
Really disappointed as already booked for later in the week.

It is load 12,perhaps too much for a Jub unassisted, considering the gradient from Kirkgate-Westgate is about 1 in 60 (I think) and the climb to Ardsley is 1 in 100? (Particularly in Autumn)

Perhaps Network rail being over cautious but if 45699 did have problems without the rear can all fingers would point at West Coast .

Are the timings particularly tight, they didn't seem to be hanging around on much of the video posted above including what appeared to be sharp get aways from stops?

20 mins Wakefield Westgate-Copley Hill I'd imagine would be achievable with load 10,I get a feeling that the reason the diesel is on the rear is due to the loading of 12 bogies.

It was 6 late last night out of Westgate and 1 Early at Copley Hill....tells it's own story really. In fact it kept gaining time everywhere beyond Wakey, maybe they just wanted to go home!!

In fact both morning and the one evening run have done the same (5 mins late to 1 early by Copley Hill),why they can't seem to keep time between York and Wakefield is anyone's guess.

How necessary did the 12 appear to be from loadings?

(Given today's weather in Yorkshire, to be fair, what was actually achieved may not have been what was expected).

I'm told it was fully booked on all 3 days...

The vast majority of passengers board at Wakefield as they previously did with the SSE's via the same route. (and Scarborough Flyer trains)

Sadly the diesel was pushing again tonight, but the Jub did sound magnificent up front.

I saw it roaring up the bank towards Outwood, managed to get a better shot than I was expecting.

    Cheers,
