Any word on whether 34046 will be headed to a line for running in and/or test run? Could be in conjunction with 46100 if its December.

Excellent. Have a soft spot for 34081.

The current state of play with 34081. The tender is in an adjacent shed and is about to be painted, conditions permitting.

Without starting the debate... what livery is it going to be getting? I hope to see the malachite with large British Railways on the tender again!

At an AGM the membership as a whole empowered the trustees/committee to decide. As with all livery debates there was not a unanimous opinion but by a majority vote we went for 21C181 and full Southern lettering.

Only kidding folks, although it was a serious proposal for a while. It will be malachite, 34081 and full British Railways lettering. I wouldn't have minded 21C181 myself as that would have got some purists spitting feathers. :)

I was thinking that being 81 I didn't think it could actually carry the southern livery due to build date.

You're correct but if talking authenticity, she never carried nameplates while malachite. Not that we let that bother us and maybe we will take the 21C181 route for a while sometime in the future.

It's a lot more authentic than Galatea or Leander mind - I'd hope that as a reflection of a real livery applied to other class members, people wouldn't spit feathers about it :) But I am thrilled to see the early BR liveries emerging. More power to your collective elbows sir.

I wish Bittern had been numbered 60019 and lettered British Railways whilst in her garter blue. That would have been most authentic and very handsome I feel.

Whilst she only carried BR malachite for around 18 months, we rather like it and it is a rather underrepresented livery. The BBLS is split almost 50/50 over BR malachite and BR dark green so her livery will reflect this during this boiler ticket.

And likely to be so for some time as far as working engines are concerned. It's not authentic for 34092 or 34105 while SLL and Tangmere's owners prefer later BR green. 21C123 remains painted in SR malachite, but the Bluebell's policy of one one big engine in ticket at a time suggests that it won't be moving very far any time soon, especially as it will need a pretty extensive overhaul.

21C167 on the main line would look nice but I've a feeling that will be a long time a coming if ever.

Wouldn't mind see 34007 with a high sided tender in BR malachite when it returns from its next overhaul.

Or why not do the job properly and just paint "Southern" on the tender ;) Would be appropriate as the oldest survivor in the class, and not too many of the preserved ones can legitimately run in that livery.

    Gets my vote Tom,

And a visit to the BB at some point to be paired with 21c123.

Go well with the Bulleid coaches! :)

Now only if we had a full rake........... I know - now that the BB has a mainline connection, we could send the spaceship to EG in the dead of night to "borrow" the BB's.......... and maybe thence to Swanage.....

Afterall nobody would ever know, all folks would see is a spaceship! ;)

Somehow though, I can only see 34007 coming back in BR green.

Was the original intention so I've been informed buy someone who was involved with 34007 at the beginning.
