It is a pity for Great Western enthusiasts, that they ended up with two of the four genuine Great Western examples then. With very little visual difference between their 1938 condition and 1956 condition, with the exception of livery, there visual appearance is little excuse. Hopefully 7819 can rectify the situation in a few years time, and maybe if Didcot can stop making replica's, 7808 can come back in the future to fly the flag for the Great Western.

Regardless of which livery the owners chooose to paint them in, I don't think anyone has grounds for complaint when it comes to the Manors. In the 1960s, 7808 looked likely to be the only example to survive into preservation. Now we have NINE! Thank you. Mr Woodham.

I'm sure the GWS will be only too pleased to hear that there is positive support to restore 7808 in GWR livery & wish you luck in leading a campaign for that for these things only happen if folk come forward & take these projects on. Unfortuately there is a woeful shortage of such folk. As far as I am aware 7819 is likely to return in lined BR black.

In the end livery will always be a matter for those freely giving financial & practical support & you need to remember that like many the two locos in question were only saved from the scrap yard because several individuals aided by numerous supporters chose to make these locos a considerable part of their lives.

Apart from different chimneys which were changed under B.R. to suit the improved draughting (as mentioned previously) and Collett type buffers (albeit easily changed unlike the chimneys). In fact one could argue that 7808 should, to be totally accurate, restored to B.R. livery - which looked better on the Manors anyway (IMHO of course).

7819 may well be painted GWR livery atm, but I did hear a few years ago it was intended to paint it BR black.

1501 unfortunately failed late yesterday with a broken spring, D8059 being used on AS2 today.
The roster on the website has been updated, but who knows what will happen next...

Are we not also forgetting that 7827 was sporting GWR livery until a couple of years ago ?, ironically being one of the BR built batch too, leave lined GWR for something that wears it well like 4965.

Incidentally, 60163 didn't leave today as a fault prevented its move yesterday to Kidderminster.

A shot of 46100 passing Daniel's Mill on Sunday. I must confess to having removed the GWR saloon by way of Photoshop. DanielsMill.jpg

Caught Tornado's move from Bridgnorth to Kidderminster before it leaves on Tuesday at Eardington, in the last rays of sun today.

Looks like 7802 has moved under it's own power under the cover of darkness, welcome back Bradley.

Further to yesterday, 7820 arrived yesterday afternoon and appears to be in steam today.

7802 actually made it Kidderminster rather than as far Bewdley as planned. All seem well and hopefully the loaded runs tomorrow and tuesday will go well.

It'll be like 7820 arriving for the first time all over again at the GWSR she's been away for so long! Will be nice to have her back over the Christmas period.
