Its must be some kind of fusion power cell they have fitted to mayflower, not only is it going to be doing 227 mph, its also doing Bishops Lid-yard to Victoria with no water stops.

  2. Mayflower not with the returning train :)

    Seen on BL webcam:

    Mayflower + 47 + 8 coaches down.

47 + 7 coaches back up, so Mayflower + support coach staying at Minehead to return tomorrow.

I assume this is to enable the train to get back to London before midnight which would not have been possible with steam haulage.

Well done for spotting today's deliberate mistake ;)

  7. Brush 4 and seven coaches just crossed Norton Fitzwarren junction.

I've been waiting for 3058 to return to Minehead on a main line charter. Seems it doesn't want to come back!

Not a 37, but 47746 which worked the down train with Mayflower.

Correct. You could say the train was rather over provided for with motive power to assist it up onto Grosvenor Bridge!

Sorry, leander, I think I misunderstood you. Re-reading this I assume now that you meant the 37 took the train into Victoria this morning.

Tomorrow, Mayflower will work tender-first to Norton Fitzwarren, turn on the triangle then work back to Southall as follows:

The sad thing is that the engine and coach working back to Southall tomorrow, will probably be more enjoyable to see pass through somewhere in comparison to those that have paid to ride behind 61306 today!! You feel sorry for those onboard who have been caught up in rather unfortunate circumstances earlier today.

And I also suspect that Steam Dreams may be regretting not having their own dedicated rake of coaches refurbished to 21st Century standards rather than just their own kitchen car - important though I am sure that single unit is. Was there not once some rumour of a SD/Hoskins link up to that end?

No guarantee that they wouldn't be struck with technical issues.

We had a lucky escape from this trip as my Father and I were considering booking it to use up some credit we had from a previous trip which ended up being diesel hauled.
Changed our minds and chose to wait for a Scotsman trip.
An absolute farce that three carriages had to be removed from today's train. It will hardly impress potential future passengers. Also I wonder what the ORR will make of this latest incident.

Stock faults can happen to anyone, I remember a Riveira Mk2 about this time last year fouling up Leamington for a good couple of hours on a Western hauled tour, then sitting in the sidings for what seemed eternity before being collected (over 6 months), I find it odd how they never get any stick for turning out grotty faded MK'2 in ex Virgin Cross Country livery.
