There is a man sat behind me watching steam locomotive videos on his iPad. With no headphones in. Even on a rail tour you can't escape idiots...!!!!!!!

Was an on-time arrival at Hereford. 47 on rear of train. Train left in goods loop, 45407 brought down to the bay platform for water.

And yes, the rain has arrived!

Nice shot, you got lucky with the restart away from Craven Arms, as the train had to make an unscheduled stop, to drop off a group of stowaways, who boarded the excursion at Ludlow thinking it was a public service to Shrewsbury ! The stewards got off & directed them to the other platform. Was a tad annoyed as I hoping for a decent pass through the station !

Sorry to hear that Liam. Whilst waiting on the bridge we saw the train approach the station and stop - multiple groans as we thought that there may have been an issue with the loco. A good departure from Craven Arms tho'.

    Cheers,

    Alan

I am so pleased for you! At last, your first main line steam trip. :):)

And, as well as your comment above, it's quite clear from the videos posted here already, there was plenty of work being done by the Black 5.

Bit of shovage from the 47 on the return so far - presumably to make up time from a long signal check outside Ludlow.

I'm in coach A, so could hear 45407 very clearly..

Now it's reversed I am about 20 feet from the 47, and even after the shove I can still here the black 5 :)

Full report to follow later, after I've manage to digest my own body weight in food, cheese and cake!!!!

Footage of 45407 blasting away from Craven Arms on the outbound run with little if no assistance from the rear.

With all due respect, going by a couple of photo's that have been uploaded here, it looks as though Ray Poole was driving on the outward leg this morning. He certainly wouldn't have settled for second best and looking at the video's thus far, second best hasn't even been considered unless when it was required!

Sounds as though BillyReopening has had a good trip anyhow and as he's on board, that's all that matters!

Lots of signal checks on the way back but 45407 working nice and hard bar a few shoves to get us going again to make up time!

I'll write something proper later on but really not disappointing....

So you are on the train and can state that as a fact can you. Oh hang on a minute you're not on board so you have not the faintest idea what loco is doing what............
Just listen to the videos and tell me that you still think that the passengers are being short changed, Billy seems content with what he's getting, and that includes the food.
