The key difference is the one between visitors (members of the public) and exhibitors (people who claim to portray a certain time period in some way, whether by showing a vehicle, a display, their clothing, etc.).

Let me put it this way. Why don't I just roller paint my Defender matt green and stencil a white star on the side, then park it up next to someone's wartime Jeep at a 1940s event? Many people won't be able to tell the difference, after all it's an impression of a wartime vehicle. I wonder how the person who has painstakingly restored the Jeep to original condition will feel.

Turning up to a WW2 event as an exhibitor in something that was built twenty+ years after the end of the war* is like turning up to 'Tracks to the Trenches' event in a Sherman tank.

*Referring to the green goddesses and REO trucks here more than the Ferrets ;)

By the way, I don't mean my negative ranting to mean that I think the CVR or the owner of the vehicles have done a shoddy job at all. I think the whole ensemble looks excellent, something really cool and interesting.

    It's just that it's not 1940s :p

Any hints on whether there may be another guest at the gala in late February?

Presume current line up is 5619 and the TKH and maybe an s160?

Ivatt 2 from the GCR would be nice!

Yes we should be able to announce another visitor in the next week or so.

S160 6046 is due back from Tyseley in the next couple of weeks as a complete loco and will also be running at the gala.
