Does that mean that passengers today would be compensated from the money claimed.....

Can't comment personally as I don't know the passenger charter etc well enough but my earlier post was sparked by all the have you been delayed by.... tweets I've had lately from the train companies I follow on Twitter.

Yes. How long do you need to spend there? 20 minutes in the minster, 30 minutes in the castle museum, an hour round the shambles (inc a cup of tea) and that is just about it. York promises much and delivers little.

Nothing special about the pubs in York.

Hopefully you wear a helmet, when your wizzing round on your hoverboard, then again, you don't need one.....

I would like to defend my home City here as there is a lot to do for everyone's taste. Some York pubs I hate, loud music and gassy cold beer but others are to my liking with proper real ale. Umpteen churches for architecture and stained glass aficionados, several museums, excellent retailing outlets for shoppers, the Christmas market, several museums, including the NRM and a main line railway to look at too for train fans. Plenty of buses also for other transport fans. I think that gives more than 20 mins for a stop over.

Appreciating your post was tongue in cheek, but only our City footie team are crap at the moment, more than enough for anyone else.

WCR are a licensed TOC, I would assume that, just like all other TOCs, they get compensated for delays that get put down to NR - these would include the infrastructure problems that caused the problems today

Can you point me in the direction of a good Indian restaurant in York. I've never had a good curry there in 50 years.

That's one thing I can't do. When I visit relatives to stay they are based outside the City so we go to the Jaipur Spice just off the A19 in Easingwold. Can thoroughly recommend their food but it is 10 miles or so north of the City! The one we used regularly when I last lived in York has since closed. However will ask around and post a reply here!

    ......... briefly.

I was considering a run up to Grantham tonight, but with the Dutchess running so late, and the lure of the pub that's not going to happen now at all. Maybe Saturday.
