At that speed it's obviously an A4 with a second tender and a water carrier. :)

No water stops? Diesels on the front and back? It probably depends on whether you believe in the magic. (Talk to any three year old.) And tbh, we may need a bit of that magic into 2016. So, Merry Christmas everyone and here's hoping that a LMS and a LNER 'icon' are both added to the main line fleet, as planned, next year.

Fast parcels train, lots of stopping so plenty of brake power needed, and a big water capacity as well. Sounds like a job for an S15 with double-bogie tender to me ...

    Happy Christmas everyone!

See our Christmas card posted in that thread. The North East's connecting services this year will leave Shildon sorting centre (aka Locomotion) with at least one hauled by Orion with an assorted LNWR rake in tow.

For anyone with back copies of Rly Mag full explanation of how it all works was in my story Sultan's Christmas back in 2001. There will be a massive logistical programme of Q trains running tonight and Network Rail for once got the gauging cleared in time.

    Happy Christmas one and all.

I note they've also attached the bogie water bowser coach behind the tender. Is that doing the Yeovil run down to Plymouth and onto Truro and Penzance this year with all the shoe stock from Clark's at Street? Anyone any idea what's doing the northbound run?

It needs to be re timed though as Santa wont be able to do it at just the speed of sound. Should try 670,616,629 mph. But, as we know, RTT data on speed and load is always unreliable! ;)

I think relativistic effects start to come into play at that sort of speed, which will monkey around with both speed and load! ;) Can RTT cope with general relativity?

Blanket schedule for a multitude of inter-connecting support trains. NATS have the sled schedule I think, as Radio Solent were talking to them last week, and NORAD will have live tracking.

I think that someone should get their act together and get the calling points in some sort of logical order, after all Auto Route can do it. Route optimisation, used that facility often myself.
