The Midland Railway - Butterely are pleased to announce the "Caprotti Crescendo" event taking place on the 16th & 17th January 2016.

The event will be the FINAL operating days of BR Standard Class 5MT, 73129, due to the expiry of the locomotive's boiler certificate. 73129 will then be withdrawn for a major overhaul.

Locomotives in operation (subject to availability) will be:

    BR Standard Class 5MT - 73129
    Class M5 Peckett - 1163 "Whitehead"
    Class 127 Diesel Multiple Unit

The Golden Valley Light Railway will be in operation on both days. The Ashover Light Railway carriage will be in use, hauled by one of the line's diesel locomotives. (Additional fare payable.)

"The Sea Fish Special" will operate on Saturday 16th January, departing Butterley at 6:00pm.

A link to the facebook event is here.

Departures with 73129 will be at 10:00, 11:30, 12:50, 14:15, 15:20, and 16:45 and these are all full round trips. 73129 will be operating on a 5 (possibly 6) carriage set with seating available at the uphill end of the train so should be a good load for her last two days in traffic.

What are you doing for motive power after the Caprotti retires?

Idea is 53809 will be the main steam motive power - we don't start Steam running until Easter.

Intension is for 73129 to have a decent rake of Maroons for 16th & 17th January, so should make a bit of noise!

The Golden Valley Light Railway have annouced that they will be in operation on 16th & 17th January. They will be using Ashover Light Railway carriage and one of their diesel locomotives.

As usual with the GVLR, a small addtional fare will be payable.

For those who are interested, the timetable is being proof read at the moment. It includes
chances to ride up the Swanwick Colliery Branch, 1163 "Whitehead" on two coaches doing full round trips and an "express" run with 73129, so should be fun!
