Allowing for the existing 'Dean Goods' boiler, & the T1 boiler at the Avon Valley, are there any other boilers out there awaiting a new set of frames for a replica / new build?

There was a Midland boiler that was at Maldon Timber, later Mangapps Farm, that seems destined for a Replica GCR 4-4-0 if I remember correctly.

It was a Derby boiler from a M&GN 4-4-0 which was sold a couple of years ago to a group "oop north" who I believe are building a Midland 0-6-0.

When I was last at Sellindge, there was a boiler for a TkH(?), which didn't appear to have an engine to call home....

A follow up on this may well be interesting:

" A boiler, thought to be ex-loco, was shipped out via Mallaig to the Hebridean Island of Soay, circa 1946, for SB use at a shark oil factory. It is believed to be still in situ, albeit disused. "

    Taken from this website:

    http://www.abrail.co.uk/stationary_boilers.htm

lots of very interesting reading on that page.

Of course, there may well be others out there waiting to be found.....

    Cheers,

    Alan

This one was off a traction/stationary engine and not an steam engine. http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/102007-loco-boiler-on-soay-skye/

Thanks for that GWRM, an intriguing history attached to that boiler, plus shown on a BBC prog, which I will watch later after feeding the suini.

    Cheers,

    Alan

Thanks chaps, but I'd already found loads of info on this boiler, which is an interesting survival in this day & age.

    Cheers,

    Alan

Didcot still have the (ex-loco) stationary boiler which was in use at the shed in BR days.

There's also the boiler from the BP&GVR standard gauge Fairlie "Mountaineer" at Burry Port as discussed in last May's Loco Survival Myths thread.

Apart from the 'Barry 3' - ex 44901 @ Riley's, 4115's for PW's 56xx and 2861's being used at Didcot there is also 2873's at Tyseley, 3612's in the SVR pool and a 45xx boiler (ex B.R.) at Churston.

The 2873 situation has mystified me for ages. Who actually owns 2873?

The Dean Forest may also have a spare 45xx boiler, or did it go back to 5538 when it was 'de-plinthed'?

There is a spare P class and spare H / C class boiler at the Bluebell. Got a feeling though they have both been used in the merry-go-round of overhauls at SP. Think the P class boiler is well and truly knackered though as 27 is supposedly having a new one built

The spare H boiler is currently being overhauled for use in the 01. I think the plan is to use the best bits of the remaining P boilers, and some part already in stock for use on 27 (I was shown some new firebox(?) parts that I believe arrived with 178 which I believe will be incorporated in 27s boiler). This is my understanding of the situation regarding 27, but I could (and may well be!) incorrect.
