76084 Mainline debut this year

76084 is currently undergoing winter maintenance at the NNR and one of the tasks being undertaken is reboring of the cylinders to make sure that no issues will arise during her mainline debut in the early half of 2016 (possibly May).

The Support coach which is currently located at the East Lancashire Railway has also been receiving some attention from the cleaners, all that's now missing is the engine.

Cheating a bit if the support coach pushes the loco along on the mainline; although it will make the firemans job a lot easier!;)

I Mean the locos owning group have got the support coach ready for the engine and now that 76084 is fully kitted out it's just the job of winter maintenance and then gently easing her in on the mainline, and when the time does come for her to venture out on the big railway it will be the task of assembling her support crew and then going out to run her in at speed and certify her.

I suspect her activity will be on the line to Cromer in the first instance

That's the plan to begin with but when the group are ready she will be venturing north to Carnforth.

Are you speaking officially on behalf of the owners with their sanction?

It's the last official statement they gave, their current plan is to ease her in on the Cromer line before venturing north.

Going to Carnforth for test runs ?
Wouldn't have thought there would be much work out of Carnforth for a Standard 4 certainly not alone. Perhaps in conjunction with a Black 5

Could be a problem getting a support crew together up there

I Stated this above that the owning group plan to ease her in on the Cromer Branch, with regard to the comment on Carnforth I didn't say anything about charter work as I only said that as most locos e.g's 46100, the 10A fleet, etc go from there on the Hellifield route. Don't know what's happening regarding crewing but they did say they would be looking for people beyond the shareholders.

So you are just sharing YOUR thoughts, with no official connection to the owners or their plans? Thanks for giving us insight into how you spend time daydreaming.

There's an article in the mainline section of the current Heritage Railway about 76084 going mainline.

I would have thought that the NNR will be desperately trying to hold on it, as it must be quite key to their Cromer aspirations. As the NYMR have found out, there is a shortage of NR-registered engines suitable for these limited ventures onto the main line.

Are we in for some positive developments on 76084 in the coming days?

Completely random , but; Could a Standard 4 ( in any of its formats) handle the Jacobite ?

Both 76079 & 75014 have done seasons on the Jacobite in the past.

I'm sure that many years ago I was on a Jacobite with a Standard 4 4-6-0.
