Hope the renumbering is done good and not like the awful job they did with Britannia running as morning star

Agreed. Looking at pictures from the Bluebell taken in the recent past, people could be forgiven for thinking that a WC loco named OVS Bulleid had been built by the SR. ;)

  4. There will a limited number of brake van rides during the 2016 Spring Steam Gala offering a chance to see the West Somerset and the Somerset and Dorset themed event from a different viewpoint than a station platform or a window on a Mark 1 coach.

The available places are on the 2pm from Minehead on 5 March and 10 March, plus on the 8.45am from Bishops Lydeard on 11 March. They will cost £25 for each one way journey and those booking a brake van trip will also need to have purchased a rover ticket or buy one at the time of booking. The places can be purchased by calling 01643 700398.

Discounted advanced price rover tickets for the 2016 Spring Steam Gala are on sale via www.west-somerset-railway.co.uk or 01643 704996.

I have no ax to grind over re-numbering, save the comments about the poor 70000/70021 job I made at the time and echoed above. If you're going to do it make it look right! As the WSR lends itself nicely, I tend to take more "trains in landscape" over mug-shots so the identity doesn't offend as much, if it ever did, it's the loco type I go to see.
I hope the station at Minehead will be open again after dark with the shed lights on for all to enjoy and not restricted to a charter. A platform ticket charge/honesty bucket could be made to cover access, free if you have a ticket to show you have traveled during the event.

I disagree with the renumbering of 70021, yes it looked a little odd on the sides but only close up which most people aren't when capturing the locomotive, the front was fine.

Shaping up to be a real classic Gala...

Look forward to seeing you there.

53808 is being repainted in BR black following its almost-completed overhaul. I'm no steam expert, but I didn't know that the S&D 7Fs ran on the GCR.
If you are referring to the quote in message #170, this was written on 13th January, and since then 92214 has been confirmed. As far as I know, the lineup is now complete.
