RTT suggests that the train was looped at Tebay to let 0930 from Euston pass. So Shap from a standing start then.

Nope stopped in Grayrigg loop so had the small downhill section to gain some speed. I expect the 47 was pushing given the acceleration. Still about 30 late through Penrith. The train is returning over the S&C.

Must have been as the timings show only 19 minutes for the 20 miles from Tebay to Penrith.

Class 47 was pushing up Shap but not exactly full throttle. Scotsman was indeed powering the train by a significant margin and sounded good.

Credit to the Riley team. Its all going well. Cant say the same so far given weather and timing...

Great video. What an awesome sound from the A3. Ian Riley and his team have created a symphony in Steam. Brought a lump to the throat. Finally Scotsman is back on top form.

Having been looped at Grayrigg, LNE A3 Class 4-6-2 'Flying Scotsman' is seen accelerating through Beckfoot in front of a large crowd off well wishers with the northbound 'Cumbrian Mountain Express'.

Thinking about it, that's the more sensible place to loop a train if you have to.

So if I'm right (quite possibly not) they have let it out at Howe and Cos before the northbound unit which is helpfully running half an hour late. So it should be at Appleby around 1610. Ais Gill maybe 1700.

I would say that the terrible sound is the poor quality of the phones mic. getting confused by the rapid changes in volume and not FS.

Hope you are enjoying these Henry ?
I think the majority of the odd sounds are of a bovine nature from the local farm ! I think if it were speeded up, all would become apparent...

I can confirm they are bovine and not Yeti sounds.
