It translated on auto! If it hadn't I would still have had to use one! My German is limited to some railway terminology and how to order beer!

Does that mean that the Dresden - Zittau line is completely closed at Eibau with 'bustitution' etc ? Anybody know for sure?
    Thanks,
    Ray.

Just checked on the DB journey planner and it's showing options of Dresden - Löbau (train) - Eibau (bus), or Dresden - Oberoderwitz - Eibau (train) or Dresden - Eibau (train) for 15th April.

I don't know anything about the area that I'm going to. Does this mean that I have to get a train to somewhere else to get on that train?

Or a short ride to Radebeul or Freital Hainsberg for a narrow gauge 'fix'.

I've double-booked myself onto The Snowdonian on the Saturday of the event. I've already bought my ticket for the Friday train at the festival, which is going to Lobau. Anyone who wants my Lobau ticket can have it for free. Just send my your address. I'll send it to the first person who gets to me.

Amazing that they are both still running. And with steam if I am right on that.

Kentyeti, the Radebeul Ost line still runs steam on the 0456 Radebeul Ost -Radeburg & return. I rode the service twice during last year's dampfloktreffen and trundling up the lossnitzgrund and up onto the causeway over the lakes near Moritzburg in the dark, realising that most normals in the UK were still asleep, was great! Trundling back, picking up normals off to work and students off to school before arriving back at the junction at 0700 steam-hauled is, I think, now unique in the world. On the Thursday I was the only traveller on the outbound service!!

I know you did them all 25 years ago and earlier (I have several of your videos which prove you were there...!), they are still worth a revisit.

Is it normal that I still can't buy my tickets from Brussels to Dresden?

What day are you travelling? A quick look at the DB booking site has shown purchase opportunities for the 14th of April.

Real steam is not yet dead. I don't think that it gets any more authentic than this these days.

A quick check on the DB website shows plenty of trains bookable from Brussels South/Midi on the 12th. Which website have you been using?
