Bob got in before I got to the end of the thread but I entirely agree with the point that once a local paper has made what they will regard as a minor error in a "colour" story (i.e. not really of major interest - just filling space) there is virtually no chance of getting them to print a meaningful retraction.

So there we have it, a clear statement about the true situation.

Comment has been made about VT being vacuum braked only. Whilst true in respect of their usual operations they did acquire several air-braked carriages a few years ago. At the time the implication was that they were working towards a three half set fleet comprising of 1) dual-braked Pullman cars and Mark 1s; 2) Vacuum braked early Standard Class Mark 2s; 3) air-braked/air-conditioned First/Standard Class Mark 2s. Thus, they could form an air-braked set of their own carriages if need be. The majority of the air-braked Mark 2s are currently located at Carnforth and some see occasional use in WCRCo sets.

Should for whatever reason vacuum-braked trains become a no no on the national network VT could still form their own set up. I always considered this a cunning plan.

We'll Bob, I for one am grateful for that clarification on the newspaper reports and your frank and comprehensive posting.

I have no favourite supplier. I enjoy riding behind steam, including yours, and seeing these great machines on the mainline doing what they were built for.

Ok everyone. You have been given the facts that in my opinion a few of you did not deserve. Everyone is now crystal clear about VT as is usually the case. So please move on.

And powered by something that incorporates a flux capacitor, no doubt?

How quickly people forget that it wasn't that long ago that DBS nearly brought Steam Dreams to their knees due to their complete inability to crew and run steam tours when they were signed to an exclusive operator agreement.

We are Vintage Trains. We do not gamble on the roll of a dice, betting on A or B. We make decisions on what is best for the passengers and for our charity.

We always have a plan (or three).

Hold onto your hats. It's about to get interesting!

Now I'm really feeling bad for vt. Their are so many questions to be asked and that need to be answered. It looks like nearly everybody else is getting to run their trains and yet Tyseley is put into this situation.

Well it certainly wasn't "unpleasant personal comments" That is an exaggeration of staggering proportions. Probably far too pertinent to be allowed.

What situation, have I missed something in the deleted posts?

In what way have VT been put in a situation where by they cannot run their trains when others can? As confirmed by Mr Meanley above they have chosen to take a decision based on the information available? Who is stopping them running trains?

Correct about the running trains part.

I don't think my post is related to the deleted posts.

Also, will 5043 and 4965 get to go anywhere depending on the outcome.

Having been otherwise occupied for the last few hours, I come on here & find removed & deleted posts. Just a few "after remarks".
Like GWR4707 asked above, what have we missed? Ironic that one of the deleted posts is from Ben himself.
    Funny feeling being mystified.
