According to the latest Moorsline 75029 is about to have its flue tubes replaced, so is not available. The Pocket Rocket might just be though, unless its undergoing winter maintenance atm, and it too could presumably be towed (ditto for 45428, come to that. Another Black 5, but one which has never yet visited another railway.

I'd love to see 76079 and 45428 wouldn't go down too badly. I can't believe that it's never visited another railway!

44871 reported elsewhere as being on CME(or CCE as it is) on 27/2 with Galatea...45407 for KWVR?

I somehow doubt that 44871 is working the tour now, but I also think it scuppers chances to get engines in by rail.

So no guest locos and presumably no "photographic opportunities" either.

Sadly the lads are working on a Plan D but as they've said, it's highly unlikely that they will be able to find anything at this stage. As for 'photographic opportunities' there will be plenty throughout both days, however unlike in previous years, there won't be an 'in-event' photo charter. I guess there's only so much you can ask Volunteers to do.

The Railway is however playing host to two photographic charters on the Monday and Tuesday after the event. I'm sure if you contact the Railway, they will be able to give you more details.

Doesn't really help with hotels already booked and a 470 mile return journey. If you say "photographic opportunities" I think people are entitled to assume they will be provided. Shame about the circumstances meaning no visitors. When will road access be possible again for low loaders?

The photographic opportunities will be throughout the day if that's what you like to do. Plenty of places to grab a decent picture, and I'm sure there will be different combinations of the locos running.

The no visitors thing is a massive unfortunate for the Railway, there's nothing they can do about it, and non of it is down to any fault of the Railway. If there was another way of getting something in, they'd have found it. As for the repair to the bridges that is down to the local councils budgets sadly and also workload. Don't think the Railway know of any timescale.

This will be my first gala visit to Keighley, looking forward to it. Does anyone know which way the locos face and when/if a working timetable will be released? Many thanks

Usually all the locos face towards Oxenhope, but watch out during the day for the tank engines. They sometimes turn them to add a bit of variety.

As for the timetable I'm sure you'll understand that with the lack of opportunity to get the Black 5 to the Railway the timetable will be being looked at, (probably as you read this - in a Pub in Haworth) but I'm sure as soon as it's sorted you'll have it.

Keep your eyes on the Railways website for it. www.kwvr.co.uk

Once upon a time I remember enjoying galas for what they were, not because of a visiting engine - indeed, visiting engines didn't really happen when I was younger. Would still have gone just to enjoy the spectacle and may do so in a couple of weeks just to soak up the atmosphere and support the KWVR.

Seem to remember reading in a very old edition of Push and Pull that the original reasoning for a spring gala was to give the resident fleet of working engines a run out to prove winter repairs prior to the main operating season....

TBF home based galas still give you something different, not normally possible on a normal service day. How many other days would you see 6/7 locos out and about?

ELR seem to be doing the same for their Spring Gala, we're being forced to do similar at CVR and GCR did the same last autumn.

GWSR, WSR, Llan all run home based events throughout the year too, sometimes we forget just how lucky we actually are.
