Was always a good loco during its last spell and it's close to my heart because it's Welsh! I'm coming to keep it some company tomorrow.

Absolutely fantastic day today. I'd forgotten just how good 85 was. All the locos put in stunning performances. The drivers seemed to be making up for the lack of engines. Loved seeing the steam crane working. That was fascinating. I had been toying with the notion of not going but I'm so glad that I did and plenty of other people seemed to be there. The trains were packed.

Just a couple of hours here on Saturday afternoon due to other commitments - 5 engines in steam and no complaints from me with everything running basically to the timetable - Trains seemed reasonably full as well.

Had a fairly relaxing day out on the KWVR, as the lack of visiting locomotives meant there were no nervous breakdowns in trying to bag them. 85 seemed a good performer, although I only got it on a solo turn. The locomotive of the gala for me was the 4F- it made the right noises in the right places, and I remember thinking to myself that I actually rather like the class, paticularly as they inspired the Maunsell Q class, which is an equally vocal type in the right hands. Quite enjoyed it overall.
