We are staying at blue anchor so it would be either direction, to go first would appreciate if you could let me know the first couple
    Of movements around that station

Had a great day at the Gala, (Staurday 5th). Many thanks to the individuals at Williton Diesel Shed and The Heritage Carriage project who took the time and trouble to explain and educate a numpty such as me. Also thanks to the gentleman at Minehead Loco Shed who enlightened me on the incredible costs associated with the overhaul of the King! A great and memorable day out. Well done WSR.

Simples. Arrive at Blue Anchor a few minutes early, buy ticket or souvenir guide, study for 5 minutes, enjoy the rest of the day. <BJ>

I'd like to put together a sheet of comments about the first weekend of the Gala just now ending to give a final push for next weekend.

Would anyone who has attending this weekend care to post or PM me something short and pithy (perhaps 10 words or less) to say what you enjoyed about this weekend / why folks shouldn't miss next weekend.

    Robin

Watch a barn owl mobbed by crows from the train.

I visited the Somerset & Dorset gala yesterday and was very pleased and proud of what the railway had achieved.

When I first saw standard tank 80043, my memories of the Somerset and Dorset railway, near to my home at Midsomer Norton, came flooding back.

During the afternoon I witnessed 53808 sat at 'Shepton Mallet' with a goods train as double-headed locos 53809 and 34053 charged up the incline towards the station with a 'through' passenger service.

The various train reporting numbers, the renumbering of 80043 and the renaming of stations are examples of the extent of detail afforded by the planning team.

Well done to all involved. This gala will be remembered for many years to come. <BJ>

Looks like there is a news item on wsr.org.uk that answers your questions http://www.wsr.org.uk/news.htm#818

  20. Working through scores of picture submissions from many very kind photographers. Around 150 already online on www.wsr.org.uk Here's the gallery shortcuts of Gala days 1 and 2:
    5 March 2016
    6 March 2016
but a visit to the front page would be helpful to bump the hit counter along :)
Still have many more to go. And a poor wi-fi for the next few days. Gonna be a slowish job. And there's more linesiding to do...
