You know far to much about a non steam machine.

Go stand in the naughty corner.

    ;)

I'm not so sure he knows about FS either. As I understand steam locomotives it may have its original design of power plant but the individual components have surely been replaced whilst the 73/9 has had major re-engineering although retaining the original concept of a diesel engine and electrical motors contained within one body shell.
"Shimples!" as Alexander would say. ;):)

Actually a smooth exit from Carlisle. First start of the afternoon that didn't shake rattle and roll...

Congratulations to all involved with what was clearly a very successful run. Just what the mainline steam movement needed. On a minor point, can the support crew put some express headlamps on her next time out. We expect her to be dressed properly!!

Yes what a fabulous day and full marks to all involved for getting this one running. Fabulous footage from the normal guys on here and what a wonderful sight and sound the Duchess made today slogging it up towards Shap summit. My shot was taken at Salterwath.

    An outstanding photograph Simon.

Posted here amongst some other good offerings and the usual very high quality video from the regulars too.

    Thank you one and all.

Quite clear that all the regulars here didn't need refresher training courses after the long breaks in quality steam action we are currently experiencing.:)

All that's missing is the story of what I suspect was a somewhat hard spell of work on the footplate culminating with the climb of Shap.

If we are lucky, there is an outside chance that we may get some feedback on that in due course.......

Might be from the same batch of coal said to have caused problems on the 30th January WCME?

Just an observation. What is it with BTP in Scotland? Second steam charter trip I have been on to Scotland when the arrival platform has been peppered with BTP and together with platform staff appear anxious that passengers clear the platform rather than photograph the loco at it's destination station.
