It was the shot from Welham Green but I see from Flickr that it was a 7D.
I was just comparing the colour from that with an earlier posted shot and the differences are quite marked, both Canon and using the same lens I might add, must be the sensors.

ps. I'll swap you my 5D for your 1DX lol

Yes it was the 7D/2. Maybe not the sensor, more likely RAW conversion. Original colour balance but highlights/ blacks etc manually adjusted in LR.
The only way the 1DX is leaving is when is gets swapped for a Mark II:)

Collegue of mine at work who lives adjacent to the line between Reading and Newbury, heard a steam engine passing the back of his house in the early hours of this morning. It woke hime up!!

Was he dreaming or could it have been a DB light engine movement?

    Spooky!

Its the Phantom Kettle again!

We had 'sightings' last year (?) the Mrs saw it at Mortlake - somebody apparently even photographed it - I thought the Mrs had been at the cooking sherry until @steamvideosnet came forward with a report from a friend near Salisbury, I think.....................

Showed the Mrs every loco I could think of & it wasn't any of them. :Saywhat:

It's reported elsewhere that there were more issues with trespassers in the Teesside area during 60103's move, with BTP involved. Certainly she went from RT in the Northallerton area to 17L at Middlesbrough.

Apparently there is an unconfirmed rumour that Tangmere is not on the CathEx to Chester on 2/4 because it is separately going to be towed up to Carnforth where it will be used to supplement the LMS fleet on the various upcoming northern charters. Good to see a bit of class operating in the north. All that's now needed is the return of Braunton in the south, and eventually, Clan Line.

so why would you have the expense of a separate move, when you could get it most of the way there on a paying charter?

Fair point @mrKnowwun. That's probably why it's always wise to view with suspicion anything out of the ordinary posted on April 1st! :D

Since when did the LMS fleet at Carnforth need supplementing with anything.... apart from a big green one from Butterley...

Is there still a speed restriction through Lancaster northbound? It might have acounted for the amble.

I don't know about speed restriction but they let a nodding donkey out of platform five for Leeds in front of the steam which didn't appear to be in a rush!!
