For those who like something with a very high chance of running exactly as described(apart I suppose from fire risk ) this has just been announced:

http://www.ukrailtours.com/product/the-robin-hood/ . There are side trips to Crich and Chatsworth,so something for everyone.

Note that fares are £10 cheaper in standard, and £15 cheaper in first, than Diesel Dreams!

Also worth mentioning the possibility of a visit to Barrow Hill, which might be of great(er) interest to many on this forum. Stagecoach 90 service from New Beetwell Street in the town centre offers a 30 minute interval service, just over 30 minute ride, and a with a nominal £1 admission charge on those days when there is no special event (if I read their website correctly), what's not to like about this alternative suggestion. All depends on the time available at destination, of course.

Wonder if Barrow Hill is where Tornado might be serviced or possibly Sheffield.

My guess would be Barrow Hill for servicing and turning, the tour could go up through Dronfield to Sheffield and return via Darnall to Barrow Hill and Chesterfield (no turning involved).
The only triangle near Sheffield is the one at Totley, I guess this may be a difficult move to path nowadays.

Looks a good trip. The line to Grantham via Bingham will have seen more steam this year than it has hosted in the last five...

Although having said that, here's hoping NR get that bridge at Barrow-upon-Soar made safe over the next few days.

Good stuff, although it must have been an absolute pig to be a commuter who normally uses the route yesterday.

One of the better timings for steam I've seen south of Peterborough in a long while. 1hr 55 on the outward journey, and bang-on 2 hours on the return. Should be a nice run.

I agree it does look like being a good run. Only 2 water stops by the look of it, Oakham on the outward and Grantham on the return. Looking forward to a good day out.:)

I'll be on this. Looking forward to a start to stop run between Grantham and Peterborough and it's FL down Stoke. 29 miles in 32 minutes. That will be interesting. Well done Network Rail for providing a decent path for once. Clearly someone at Milton Keynes trusts DBC and Tornado to get a move on.

Just hope NR don't declare a fire risk, though I think rain is likely by Thursday.

The Met Office seem to be predicting rain for the middle part of the country on Thursday. I hope that wasn't a Murray walker moment.

Is this tour still 'Tornado' hauled, or is it now 46233, as it is shown Engine & ECS 13/8 Southall-KX.
