WCR Diesel that was going back to Carnforth has been turned back at Warrington and heading south.

Wonder if there is an issue with the stock?

Lost 50 minutes between Madeley and Norton Bridge, apparently crawled to Stafford and is still showing as being there; 86 down when I checked.

Not sure that there is, as there are so many acronyms etc.

Might be worth starting a new thread in the appropriate section asking about the ones you are unsure of.

44871 appears to have failed and has been taken off at Stafford. The class 57 is going to take the GBIX stock forward to Southall.

57 on the stock through Rugby at 17:30 spied from my Pendolino. See if 871 is still at Stafford shortly.

Is 45407 availible to join the tour further up north if 44871 not able to be repaired in time or something from Carnforth?

I note that 44871 has been taken to Crewe HS ie the new base for LNWR Heritage. I am not entirely sure what the failure is (a radius rod ???). But it is not beyond the bounds of possibility that a fast repair can be achieved by component exchange with another Black 5.

A short and grainy shot of Braunton in rapidly fading light on her loaded test run at Wardle:

34046 aka 34052 at Wellington and then Oakengates. Too close to home to miss ( 5 mins drive from Oakengates :) )
Unfamiliar territory for me with very high ISO and no flash so just experimenting with the capabilities of my D800.

Good shots. Wellington's a cracker, and Oakengates has atmosphere. The wonders of digital! Just look at those buffers. If LSL have paid the same attention-to-detail on all the work, Braunton should be in top condition.

I think we've already seen with Royal Scot that the the locos emerging from Crewe are going to be on a par with the "front runners" in terms of quality and reliability, such as Clan Line, the Riley Black Fives and Tyseley's engines.

I see there is a path from Carnforth to Crewe HS later this morning, maybe the diesel escort for 44871 to Bristol.
Why the escort, probably to get a straight run through without having to stop for water.

Can't see an onward path to Bristol though at present.
