D1010's test run on 24th April has now been cancelled, and pencilled in instead for 14th May.

Thxs for update, if only D1010 could be at Barnstaple junction when D1015 passes on May 7th.

Is there still a vintage bus service from Dunster station to The Castle?

    Thanks

Its a pity that it isn't easy to find the details, it isnt obvious on the WSR site and the Dunster Station site hasn't been updated since 2013

Most people tend to use Steve's excellent site to keep up to date.

The site is the third in priority returned by a Google search. What more do you expect?

By 'non enthusiasts' I assume you mean the general public who are looking for a ride on a steam train - well, they would use http://westsomersetrailway.vticket.co.uk/ to find out about timetables and fares.

  14. Hi John

Now you are aware of wsr.org.uk I do hope you find the contents interesting and informative. I'd be delighted if you "bookmark" the site.

As you can see, the website is not just for enthusiasts as it carries much marketing/promotional content all aimed at spreading the news to as wide an audience as possible by supporting and underpinning the official website. It also provides a "pan-railway" view of most activities carried out by the many groups on the line. Here is today's front page...

Hope you enjoy the bus trip between Dunster Station and Dunster Castle, John!

    Errrrr

So, is the bus timetable on the WSR Website, if so where?

Bear in mind of course that I KNOW that such a service has existed and want to see if its still running.

  16. Hi John - the official website has the bus times under a news item:
    http://westsomersetrailway.vticket.co.uk/article.php/1199/connections-to-dunster
and the bus times appear on the news page of wsr.org.uk
I hope this helps you to plan your day.

    Steve

GWR open day @ SPM seemed to have been a success. Got me thinking, is that something WSR could do. Use Norton triangle fields.

Could somebody provide a brief update on the plans to install water cranes at BL & WN, please?
There was, for a long time, a crane lying between the tracks at WN & the original pipework was uncovered during the loop extension. Is any of this re-usable?

So were these barrels a Type No 5 and Type No 14 then, and make sure there is water in them first as we don't want bigger bills to get the engines running do we. :D
