NRE confirms a normal service via Cheltenham.

Didn't seem to be an issue for Royal Scot.

Are you suggesting Phillips Marsh depot is insecure indeed unsafe ?
Quite a number of engines have called Bristol home in the summer months, none of them seemed to have had their wheels nicked,

Multi-million pounds ??? - ah now I'm starting to see what it's about.

Maybe in absence of attendance and by way of apology for disappointing the crowds today, and to show leadership towards the public they are asking to accept the situation and not to complain, in the spirit of the occasion maybe VT could make a donation to the charity too ?

I've got my ticket, will still support, and put my hand in my pocket even despite the false dawn, as this is a non rail related deserving charity, is it unreasonable to ask them to do the same ?

Firstly, can I say thank you to all those who have organised it.

Secondly rather than criticising VT, they have had to make a decision about some quite crucial assets. Whatever you think of it they have clearly given the matter some thought and explained the reasons to us.

The decision is entirely for the owners (of probably the best looked after locos which run on NR) to make. Ask yourself just why their locos are top notch.

They have no need to make donations or offer further apologies for being unable to attend, that has been explained.

VT is not an organisation which lines the pockets of those involved. Quite the reverse in fact with many folk freely giving their time and donating funds to make it a success or even operate at all.

You narrowly avoided catching me on camera there! I think me and my daughter were queuing up to board 50035, but happen to be stood behind someone else in your shot.

That was just before the heavy sideways rain started...

I didn't have my proper camera, and did have some toddler-wrangling to do, but still managed some 1/8th-decent photos.
