Hope this is the appropriate place & not wanting to start a forum war, I have seen elsewhere & from the "horses mouth" so to speak that if trespass continues & disruption is caused to other services ORR will consider banning FS from the national network.
Things are getting really nasty it seems.

Hahaha I can see the Sunday papers showing pics of Mel Gibson scaling the RBB on Saturday night shouting you can take our lives but you'll never take our engine

They will have to change her identity to 60109 Hermit then if she gets banned....
If the weather keeps up as it is at the moment I can see NR implementing the Summer steam ban anyway.

Do you have a source for that, can the ORR actually ban a mechanically sound locomotive on that basis?

I can quite imagine that the ORR have powers to ban a loco which causes danger and disruption on the network.

OK, we know it's not the loco causing it, but simplistically...

    Scotsmen runs=potential disruption and danger,
Scotsman doesn't run=no danger and disruption...

It doesn't take a genius to follow the thought process...

And the post following Ian Riley's is telling.

I must admit to suprise that some posters to NP seem so keen to want to go against the wishes of the companies who try hard to organise steam tours.

Its almost like a perverse wish to see them banned rather than accept a small compromise.

IMHO, pragmatism rules at times like this. The fuss will die down soon enough and "secrecy" won't be needed.

The point is the fuss wont die down all the time its hyped, and secrecy is hype. Get it run, let all those who are going to make a slight effort to see it, see it, and then we can all get back to normal.

Not sure I agree with this, because the significant trespass problem appears to have been caused more or less entirely by Joe Public, not enthusiasts. Secrecy will tend to reduce publicity in the normal media, which should reduce the numbers of "normals" popping out to see it.

And the editors of the dailies will soon tire of Scotsman, as they do with all new stories, so secrecy won't be needed.

I'd not be at all suprised if, in a few months time, the NRM struggle to get enough publicity for their flagship loco...
