Not sure about 25th May, but according to Steam Dreams the lunchtime trip on 1st June is scheduled to leave Victoria at 11:10 so not VSOE/Belmond timings.

Look at SD website for 1st June, I would assume it will be the same for this Wednesday where no times are showing.

A large number of posts have been removed from this thread as they add nothing to the general discussion about the CathEx to Salisbury. All of them are either inflammatory posts by @34098, who has been given another formal warning, or they are a reaction to them by others.

Rather than 'take on' an inappropriate post (as that runs the risk of you getting into trouble yourself) please use the report button and leave the Moderators to deal with it.

Indeed, it is particularly offensive. I notice they try and use it as little as possible.

I do like the occasional juxtaposition of adverts and subjects on this sort of forum - I have just been reading about the A3's exploits and the advert at the foot of the page was for an (Audi) A3!

It is the Gresley designed whistle.

It's nothing like the LNER standard whistle, listen to the B1, K1 or Tornado when they are not using the chime.

I think they're more Highland whistles and the they're by different designers, although I'm not too sure how much 60103s whistle was used on other classes.

I'm fairly sure they are LNER standard, wouldn't be Highland as that railway became part of the other lot. back in the day I remember they all seemed to sound the same, apart from the A4 s of course.

An A3 whistle is an A3 whistle. It is quite small, similar to that fitted to a V2, but slightly different.

FS's whistle has always sounded like a strangled budgie to me although I have no knowledge of A3s in BR days. I seem to remember they fitted it with something much louder (Austalian chime whislte? some years ago). Since you have to have a working and effective warning on trains is FS perhaps deliquent in this respect?

She was indeed fitted with another whistle behind one of the smoke deflectors when she was running as the A3/A4 hybrid in the late 1990's and early 2000's.

At the start of the BBC FS programme there was footage of 4472 leaving KX on the 1969 no stop run. The whistle sound is deeper and more resonant than it sounds now. I haven't a massive amount of 4472 knowledge but I dont recall it ever making the squeak it now makes in the past. Certainly some irony in the fact that the loco that most seems to generate trespass has the least effective warning device!
