Well I don't know about the support crew, but if stewards are to ensure that no one has their head out then they must check frequently.

That's a poor argument my friend. Reminds me of the late George Hinchcliffe who was caught on camera window hanging behind 4472. The on board TV interviewer pulled him up on it, to which George replied, "I was observing the position of the signals." Nice one George but that was the job of the footplate crew. :)

We know that BTP have travelled in the support coach recently. Perhaps he's BTP or NR looking for trespassers.

I didn't bother with the evening train, the morning workings provided a severe enough Photoshop challenge. Results here, crossing Cremorne Bridge over the Thames and at Woking Junction.

they have an orange bloke hanging out of the window on both sides for most of the trip, were they counterbalanced by a rope through the middle?

Looking at RTT this got back 27 minutes late to West Brompton at 00.10 this morning .
She began losing time after Byfleet and she was 40 minutes down at one point. I wonder if she was having problems again or it was the nature of the route back into London that caused the delays.

It doesn't seem to have stopped anywhere, the problem with this sort of route and all its conflicting junctions and intensive service once a train loses its path things just tend to go from bad to worse.

I was at Purley Oaks last night, I think it was just pathing, got stuck behind an ex-Horsham at Redhill, then an ex-Tattenham Corner at Purley, then an ex-East Grinstead at South Croydon...came crawling through Purley Oaks on single yellows

We were late to the water stop and never regained time. Fortunately a hastily organised set down at East Croydon was arranged as the connection with the last train into Victoria at Brixton would have been missed

Loco certainly had no problems, I was in the back coach and the 47 was only used for banking out of Victoria and to get the train moving off of Battersea Reversible after one of the many lengthy stops at little used junctions to fit us around the service trains. Much slow running with the exception of the excellent climb out of Shalford until we were checked at Reigate and the crawl back into town

Yes remember the occasion well ,it was between Carnforth and Hellifield ,FS didn't steam very well about that time ,and George was looking out to see whether the road was clear ,or FS not steaming ,we were down to about 20mph a the time. Don't know who the TV interviewer was ,because it was a bog standard Cumbrian Mountain Express Ex that ran week after week at that time, and heads would be out at most of the windows.SLOA once held a photo' comp, and one of the categorises were, Photo taken from the Train. I think the Steam Railway mag got hold of the tail and has usual got the wrong end of the stick.

Here is my video from Worplesdon last night. Turn up the volume and enjoy the superb sound of 60103 accelerating hard away from the gauging slack and on to Guildford:

Given the amount of time regained from Shalford to Betchworth, unless 60103 has been seriously 'souped up', the 47 must have surely provided considerable assistance. Indeed in the JS Rail Videos video at Gomshall, the 47 can clearly be heard working fairly hard.
